Job Description: Executive Chef

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Executive Chef to lead the culinary operations of our upscale catering business. The Executive Chef will be responsible for curating exceptional dining experiences for our high-end clientele, ensuring every event exceeds expectations with both culinary excellence and impeccable service. Your creativity, leadership, and culinary expertise will play a pivotal role in solidifying our reputation as a premier catering service for luxurious events, corporate gatherings, and private functions.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership in Culinary Operations: Lead the overall culinary operations for all catering events, including menu creation, client tastings, event planning, and food preparation. Collaborate with the sales team, clients, event coordinators, and the culinary team to ensure the seamless execution of every aspect of the catering experience.
Menu Development and Innovation: This is a high creativity position. The incumbent will work to develop customized, seasonal, and innovative menus that reflect the client's needs and elevate the event experience. Ensure that the dishes are beautifully presented, flavorful, and made with the highest quality, and where possible, locally sourced ingredients.
Team Management & Staff Development: Oversee and mentor the culinary team, ensuring proper staffing levels, skill development, and high standards of execution. Provide continuous training and support to encourage professional growth and foster a positive team dynamic.
Operational Excellence: Manage day-to-day kitchen operations, ensuring smooth, timely preparation and delivery of food for both small and large-scale events. Maintain efficiency, quality, and consistency under pressure, while adhering to the company’s culinary standards.
Client Relations & Consultation: Actively participate in client meetings and tastings, as needed, offering professional insights, tailoring menus to suit specific event themes, dietary needs, and preferences. Provide a high level of customer service by anticipating client expectations and delivering extraordinary results.
Financial Oversight: Monitor food and labor costs, ensuring the achievement of budgetary goals without compromising quality. Work with management to develop pricing strategies and forecast expenses, maintaining a focus on profitability while upholding exceptional culinary standards.
Inventory Management & Ordering: Supervise inventory levels and ordering of ingredients and supplies, ensuring timely deliveries and maintaining stock control. Minimize waste while optimizing resource usage and keeping costs in line with company goals.
Health, Safety & Sanitation: Enforce the highest standards of cleanliness, food safety, and sanitation, ensuring compliance with all regulatory health and safety laws. Perform regular kitchen inspections and oversee staff adherence to proper food handling procedures.
Event Execution & Coordination: Oversee and ensure the timely preparation and transportation of food to event locations, maintaining its quality and presentation throughout the event. Supervise on-site food service teams to ensure a flawless experience for guests.
Continuous Innovation & Trends: Keep abreast of industry trends, emerging culinary techniques, and market demands to ensure the catering service remains innovative and competitive. Lead the culinary team in incorporating new trends and ideas into the menu offerings, enhancing the company's reputation as a leader in catering.
Brand Ambassador: Represent the company at industry events, client meetings, and food tastings. Act as a brand ambassador for the company, demonstrating the business’s commitment to quality and culinary excellence.

Qualifications:

Proven Experience: Extensive experience as an Executive Chef or Head Chef in high-end catering or upscale restaurant environments, with a solid track record of event-based culinary and leadership.
Culinary Expertise: Expert knowledge of advanced cooking techniques, presentation, and culinary trends. Proven ability to create innovative and custom menus to meet the specific needs of diverse clientele.
Strong Leadership & Communication Skills: Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to inspire, motivate, and direct a large culinary team. Excellent communication skills to engage with clients, staff, and stakeholders.
High-Pressure Environment: Ability to maintain composure and quality under high-stress conditions, especially during large-scale events and tight timelines.
Budgeting & Cost Control: Demonstrated experience in managing food costs, labor budgets, and other operational expenses. Strong ability to optimize resources and minimize waste while maintaining culinary excellence.
Creativity & Attention to Detail: A passion for food, with a keen eye for detail, aesthetics, and creating an unforgettable dining experience.
In-Depth Knowledge of Food Safety: Expert knowledge of food safety regulations, sanitation standards, and kitchen management practices.
Flexibility: Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, depending on event schedules.
