Executive Administrative Assistant

Legislative Operations

New York State Assembly CAP 347

Albany, New York 12248

The NYS Assembly Department of Legislative Operations has an opening for an Executive Administrative Assistant. The Director of Legislative Operations oversees all functions and staff related to the introduction and passage of bills in the Assembly.

General responsibilities include:

managing incoming calls, e-mails and requests from Assemblymembers and their offices in a responsive, service-oriented environment;
data entry, organizing and tracking jobs using custom applications;
knowledge of the Assembly Rules as they pertain to office operations;
manages scheduling/appointments for Director of Legislative Operations;
maintaining filing for Director of Legislative Operations;
maintaining office supplies;
proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook;
candidate must be available to work nights and weekends as needed; and,
other duties as as necessary to the proper operation of this office.

The ideal candidate will:

be a resourceful, personable and results oriented individual;
have an Associate Degree or successfully completed a certificate program in a related field or have significant experience in a related position;
have two plus (2+) years of experience in a fast-paced, service-oriented administrative position/environment, legislative experience preferred;
be proficient in Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, Outlook with an aptitude and interest in learning new computer applications;
possess excellent oral and written communication skills;
have demonstrated experience juggling multiple priorities and tight deadlines, along with initiative, proficiency, good humor and diplomacy; and,
having strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills are essential.

Starting salary range is $45,000 - $60,000 dependent on experience and includes a competitive package of benefits. Position open immediately to the right candidate.
