DERMATOLOGY MEDICAL ASSISTANT

THE DERMATOLOGY CLINIC, PLLC

The Dermatology Clinic, PLLC is the only full-service dermatology practice on the Gulf Coast under the direction of board-certified Dermatologists. Dr. Wingfield, Dr. Ortego, and their team of physician assistants treat the full range of hair, skin, and nail disorders. In addition, we perform advanced techniques in skin resurfacing for scars and wrinkles, as well as botulinum treatment of wrinkles and all types of wrinkle fillers.

We are looking for an experienced medical assistant to join our team! Voted "Best Places to Work on the MS Gulf Coast," The Dermatology Clinic, PLLC is a busy office with the goal of providing exceptional care and an excellent patient experience. This is a full time position, 8:00am - 5:00pm, Monday through Friday in our Gautier, MS office. Dermatology experience is preferred but not required. Applicants must be focused on customer service and quality care, team-oriented, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Position Summary: The Medical Assistant is an essential part of the dermatology care team, responsible for both clinical and clerical tasks as directed by the dermatologist or certified physician assistant. The MA must demonstrate competencies consistent with the knowledge, skills, and scope of practice described within this job description.

Education: High School Diploma required.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations: Certified Medical Assistant preferred. Phlebotomy experience preferred. Dermatology experience is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: The Medical Assistant role includes, but is not limited to:

Rooming patients and documenting/scribing all vital information for the dermatologist or certified physician assistant
Providing assistance to the dermatologist or certified physician assistant during examinations and treatment procedures as required, including dressing changes, excisions, laser surgery, cryotherapy, biopsies, I&Ds, skin cancer surgery, etc.
Phlebotomy, injections, and medication administration as required
Detailed and accurate documentation within the practice EMR system
Screening and processing requests for information and services through telephone, voice messages, and in-person triage
Cleaning and stocking exam and procedure rooms
Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills, is well-organized, and possesses the energy and focus to keep up in a busy dermatology office setting
Demonstrates time management and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast paced environment
Knowledge of HIPAA guidelines and patient confidentiality
