We are looking for dependable, friendly, and detail-oriented team members to help customers at the front counter and support daily store operations.

Job description:
Gulf Coast Pack & Ship is seeking an experienced, dependable, and customer-focused Business Services Consultant. This position combines professional packing and shipping services with printing, mailbox rentals, notary, document services, retail sales, and small-business support.
This is not simply a cashier position. The successful candidate must be comfortable measuring packages, selecting appropriate packaging materials, calculating shipping measurements, comparing carrier services, explaining shipping options to customers, and accurately processing transactions.
Primary ResponsibilitiesPacking and Shipping
- Professionally pack fragile, valuable, oversized, irregularly shaped, and everyday items.
- Select the appropriate box, cushioning, wrapping, tape, and protective materials for each shipment.
- Accurately weigh and measure packages.
- Calculate and explain:
- Dimensional—or DIM—weight
- Package girth
- Length plus girth
- Billable weight
- Oversize and additional-handling considerations
- Compare available shipping services based on price, delivery speed, package size, destination, insurance, and customer needs.
- Process domestic and international shipments.
- Understand basic shipping requirements and restrictions for all major carriers, and other carriers used by the store.
- Identify prohibited, restricted, hazardous, perishable, fragile, and high-value items that may require additional review.
- Accurately enter customer, package, declared-value, and delivery information into the shipping system.
- Help customers understand tracking, delivery estimates, signature options, insurance, and claims procedures.
- Maintain organized packing stations and shipping supply inventory.
Printing and Business Services
- Assist customers with basic printing, copying, scanning, faxing, laminating, shredding, and document-finishing services.
- Review customer files before printing to confirm page size, orientation, color, margins, paper type, and quantity.
- Use Canva to create or make basic edits to:
- Business cards
- Flyers
- Signs
- Invitations
- Social media graphics
- Simple promotional materials
- Receive customer files by email, USB drive, cloud storage, or other approved methods.
- Provide accurate pricing and realistic turnaround times for print jobs.
- Check completed work for spelling, alignment, print quality, and overall accuracy.
Mailbox Rentals and Customer Accounts
- Explain mailbox rental plans, pricing, services, and store policies.
- Assist customers with mailbox applications and required identification documents.
- Follow Commercial Mail Receiving Agency—or CMRA—procedures and applicable USPS requirements.
- Receive, sort, scan, log, and securely store customer mail and packages.
- Protect customer privacy and confidential information.
- Contact mailbox customers when packages or special deliveries are received.
- Maintain accurate customer records and promptly report expired, incomplete, or noncompliant accounts.
Customer Service and Sales
- Greet every customer promptly and professionally.
- Ask questions to understand the customer’s shipping, packing, printing, or mailbox needs.
- Clearly explain available options without pressuring the customer.
- Recommend appropriate products and services, including professional packing, upgraded packaging, declared-value coverage, signature services, mailbox rentals, printing, shredding, and related business services.
- Resolve routine customer concerns calmly and professionally.
- Answer telephone calls, respond to customer inquiries, and provide shipment-status assistance.
- Accurately operate the point-of-sale system and handle cash, card, and digital payments.
- Maintain a clean, professional, and customer-ready store.
Required Qualifications
Applicants should have:
- Previous hands-on experience in a pack-and-ship store, shipping department, fulfillment center, postal retail store, print-and-ship business, or similar environment.
- Experience measuring, weighing, packing, and processing packages.
- Working knowledge of dimensional weight, girth, and length-plus-girth calculations.
- Basic knowledge of common carrier shipping rules and package limitations.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Basic experience with Canva or similar graphic-design software.
- Experience completing basic print, copy, scan, fax, or document-service jobs.
- Basic computer, email, internet, and file-management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to enter names, addresses, measurements, and shipment information accurately.
- Ability to work independently while following established procedures.
- Dependable attendance, punctuality, and professional appearance.
- Ability to lift and move packages weighing up to [50–70] pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference may be given to applicants with experience working for or with:
- An independent pack-and-ship store
- postal service
- major shipping carrier
- A commercial print or copy center
- A mailbox rental or CMRA business
- An e-commerce fulfillment or shipping department
Experience with shipping software, point-of-sale systems, Canva, Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, commercial printers, label printers, scales, and package-measuring equipment is also preferred.
Physical and Work Requirements
This position regularly requires:
- Standing for extended periods.
- Bending, reaching, lifting, and carrying packages.
- Working around boxes, packing materials, paper, printers, and shipping equipment.
- Handling multiple customers and assignments in a fast-paced environment.
- Maintaining accuracy during busy periods.
- Working scheduled Saturday shifts when required.
