Full Job Description

Seeking a Scientist 2 – Microbiology/Biology to support laboratory testing and microbiological activities within a regulated pharmaceutical environment. This role is responsible for performing microbiological analyses, supporting laboratory operations, maintaining compliance with cGMP requirements, and contributing to investigations, validations, environmental monitoring, and special projects.

The ideal candidate will have a strong scientific background, attention to detail, and experience working in a laboratory environment with a commitment to quality, compliance, and safety.

Responsibilities

Perform laboratory analyses, including but not limited to Microbial Purity Testing, Bacterial Endotoxin Testing, Endotoxin Testing, Biological Indicator certification and analysis, and other applicable microbiological tests for raw materials, drug substances, and finished products.
Perform testing in accordance with internal procedures, applicable external regulations, cGMP requirements, and established supply chain cycle-time goals.
Follow laboratory schedules for raw material and product testing, utilities, environmental monitoring, and special projects.
Perform water sampling and microbiological analysis and maintain required trend analysis.
Support test method validation, process validation, cleaning validation, and other laboratory or manufacturing-related projects.
Perform environmental and utilities sampling and testing in accordance with established procedures.
Identify and document microbial growth detected during laboratory testing.
Perform all laboratory activities in compliance with cGMP practices, quality standards, and company policies.
Prepare culture media and perform growth promotion testing to ensure media suitability for microbiological testing.
Prepare reagents, stock cultures, and other materials required for laboratory testing, as applicable.
Provide support during laboratory and manufacturing investigations, including evaluation of microbiological results and potential issues.
Ensure laboratory equipment is qualified, calibrated, maintained, and in suitable condition for use.
Verify that culture media and other materials used for testing are approved, properly stored, and within their expiration dates.
Operate laboratory equipment and systems, including autoclaves, pH meters, microscopes, balances, and microbial identification systems, both manual and automated.
Utilize computerized laboratory systems and maintain accurate and timely documentation of laboratory activities and results.
Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant laboratory environment.
Support continuous improvement initiatives and special projects within the microbiology laboratory.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Biology, or a related scientific field.
Knowledge of microbiological laboratory practices and techniques.
Familiarity with cGMP requirements and regulated laboratory environments preferred.
Ability to accurately perform laboratory testing and document results according to established procedures.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to data integrity and quality.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a laboratory team.
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet established laboratory schedules and testing timelines.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
