About the Position
The Hackensack Chamber of Commerce is seeking an organized, friendly, and community-minded Coordinator to manage the day-to-day operations of the Chamber and support our members, events, and community initiatives.
This is a varied, hands-on position for someone who enjoys working independently, staying organized, communicating with local businesses, and helping community projects and events come together. The Coordinator works closely with Chamber members, the Board of Directors, community partners, local organizations, and visitors to the Hackensack area.
The position is based in the Chamber office at the Hackensack Visitor Center. While there is some walk-in visitor traffic, the primary focus of the position is Chamber administration, member communication, marketing, and event coordination.
What You’ll Do
Membership & Business Support
- Communicate with Chamber members and assist with membership questions and services
- Manage annual member dues, record payments, and prepare deposits for the Treasurer
- Maintain accurate membership records and databases
- Build positive relationships with local businesses, entrepreneurs, and community partners
- Provide friendly and professional assistance to visitors who stop into the Chamber office
Chamber Administration
- Manage day-to-day operations of the Chamber office
- Prepare monthly Board meeting agendas and Coordinator reports
- Attend Chamber Board meetings and maintain accurate records of official meetings
- Organize and maintain Chamber documents and communications in appropriate electronic and physical files
- Communicate Chamber bills and financial information to the Treasurer
Marketing & Communications
- Write clear, professional communications on behalf of the Chamber
- Promote the Chamber, Hackensack community, and Chamber members through social media and website content
- Maintain the Chamber calendar of events using information submitted by members
- Coordinate the annual Visitor’s Guide, including member listings, advertising, directory information, and related website profiles
- Create promotional materials and artwork for Chamber events
- Coordinate ordering of event merchandise and promotional materials
- Communicate with local media regarding Chamber events and activities
Events & Community Programs
- Work with Chamber event committees to plan and coordinate community events
- Attend committee meetings and assist with Chamber-sponsored events
- Help coordinate event details, promotions, vendors, materials, and other logistics
- Assist with required permits, licenses, and compliance with organizations including Explore Minnesota Tourism, the Minnesota Gambling Control Board, the City of Hackensack, Cass County, and other applicable agencies
- Attend occasional evening and weekend events
Financial & Revenue Support
- Support Chamber revenue efforts through memberships, sponsorships, grants, and events
- Track event expenses and related financial information
- Work with the Treasurer to ensure financial information and payments are properly communicated and recorded

- Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a Board, committees, Chamber members, and community partners
- Experience with office software and electronic recordkeeping
- Comfortable using social media and updating digital content
- Ability to learn and use membership databases or CRM systems
- Experience with event coordination, marketing, small business, tourism, nonprofit organizations, or community organizations is helpful
Schedule & Hours
This is a part-time position with 12 regularly scheduled office hours per week at the Hackensack Visitor Center.
Additional paid hours are expected for Board meetings, committee meetings, Chamber events, special projects, and busier seasonal periods. During periods of high workload, hours may increase significantly, up to 40 hours per week.
Some evening and weekend availability is required for Chamber events.
Any work exceeding 40 hours must receive prior approval from the Chamber President and/or Treasurer.
