Full Job Description

Metals USA (Lynch Metals branch) is seeking an Accounting Clerk for our Union, NJ location. Metals USA is a leading metals processor/distributor in North America, providing a wide range of aluminum, carbon and steel products and services. Metals USA is a solid, growth-oriented company servicing the defense, commercial construction road construction and fabrication industries.

Base Wage: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour plus bonus

Requirements

High School Graduate or Equivalent.
Ability to interface effectively with all departments to foster a success-oriented, deadline driven organization.
Ability to work in a high volume, transaction driven environment.
Good analytical & organizational skills, able to make sound decisions utilizing the data at hand.
Ability to communicate both oral & written effectively with both internal & external customers.
Ability to demonstrate professionalism & diplomacy to include telephone etiquette.
Must have knowledge of standard office practices and procedures.
Must have strong mathematical skills and attention to detail.
Computer Literacy to include Microsoft Office Products: Excel and ERP.

Physical Demands

Occupation requires being sedentary less than or equal to 75% of the time ( < to 6 hours per day).

Stand, walk, sit, hear, talking, use of hands and fingers, hand-eye coordination, reach outward, reach above shoulder, climb, squat or kneel or bend
Regularly required to work on multiple concurrent tasks with constant interruptions
Lift, carry, push and/or pull up to a maximum of 25 lbs. without assistance

Work Environment

May be exposed to some of the following working conditions.

Position works primarily in an office/cubicle environment
Moderate Telephone Activity

Essential Functions:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable Accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Generate statements and email customers to obtain payment status.
Review customer credit limits and determine credit worthiness.
Create, review and maintain customer credit files.
Review daily cash receipts.
Backup for roles within the accounting department (AP, AR and accounting tasks).
Processes credit card payments routinely.
Provides general administrative and clerical support.
Provides the Controller and/or Senior Accountant with accurate financial data to ensure timely reporting.
Adheres to Reliance Steel and Aluminum's Code of Conduct as well as customer confidentiality requirements.
Regular and predictable attendance is required to perform the duties of an accounting clerk.
Adheres to established company policies and procedures paying special attention to safety regulations.
Maintains work areas in a clean, orderly and safe manner.

Required Qualifications:

Knowledge of accounting principles, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and credit functions.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office applications, and ERP systems.
Strong mathematical aptitude and attention to detail.
Ability to analyze financial information and make sound business decisions.
Strong organizational and time management skills in a high-volume environment.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks while maintaining accuracy and productivity.
Ability to follow company policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
Dependable attendance and reliability.

Physical Requirements:
