JOB SUMMARY: Under supervision of the Clinic Director, the Clinical Supervisor, Evening/Weekend provides on-site clinical leadership and operational oversight for the Mental Health Outpatient Treatment and Rehabilitative Services (MHOTRS) clinic during evening and weekend hours. This position ensures that services are delivered in accordance with regulatory standards, billing requirements, and BAC policies and procedures.
The Clinical Supervisor oversees clinic operations during non-traditional hours, including walk-in access services, and ensures that individuals presenting for care receive timely, person-centered, trauma-informed, and recovery-oriented behavioral health services. The supervisor provides clinical supervision and consultation to clinicians, fee-for-service providers, and interns, supporting staff in delivering services that are responsive to the complex behavioral health needs of the individuals served.
This position plays a critical role in maintaining a safe, welcoming, and responsive clinical environment for individuals seeking care, including those presenting with acute behavioral health needs. The supervisor supports staff in delivering services grounded in trauma-informed principles, cultural humility, harm reduction, and recovery-oriented practice.
As this is a newly established position, the supervisor will initially maintain a higher clinical caseload to support access to care during evening and weekend hours. The supervisor will conduct intake assessments and provide ongoing therapy to individuals assigned to their caseload. As additional clinicians are hired and supervisory responsibilities increase, the supervisor’s caseload will gradually decrease, transitioning to an approximate 50/50 balance of direct clinical services and clinical supervision.
This is a full-time role scheduled for thirty-five (35) hours weekly during the clinics’ operating hours, Monday through Thursday 8am – 8pm and Friday - Saturday 9am – 5pm.
Schedule requirements:
Minimum 3 Saturdays per month and 2 evenings per week
The candidate should also be able to attend weekly clinic meetings on Wednesday Mornings.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATION:
- MINIMUM:Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) required
- MINIMUM: Active NYS Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) status required, Limited permits may be considered
- MINIMUM: Three (3) years post-graduate experience working with populations that have a history of substance use, D.V issues, Criminal Justice, mental illness, chronic homelessness, and/or HIV/AIDS.
- MINIMUM: One (1) year of experience supervising paid clinical staff
- Experience working in an OMH Article 31 outpatient clinic strongly preferred
- LMSW (with ability to attain LCSW within 6 months of employee's start date) or LMHC-D or LMHC (with ability to attain LMHC-D within 6 months of employees start date) will be considered
BILINGUAL LANGUAGE: Bilingual Spanish a plus.
DUTIES AND RESPONIBILITIES:
Clinical Leadership and Supervision
- Provide trauma-informed and reflective clinical supervision to licensed clinicians, limited permit staff, fee-for-service providers, and graduate interns.
- Offer real-time consultation regarding diagnostic formulation, treatment planning, engagement strategies, and clinical decision-making.
- Support staff in the delivery of evidence-based and recovery-oriented interventions consistent with OMH clinical standards.
- Provide supervision hours and professional development support for staff working toward professional licensure.
Regulatory Compliance and Clinical Quality
- Ensure that services meet medical necessity criteria and are documented in accordance with OMH Part 599 regulations and Medicaid billing standards.
- Review and monitor clinical documentation including intakes, psychosocial assessments, person-centered treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
- Support staff in developing individualized, recovery-oriented treatment plans that reflect client goals, strengths, and service needs.
- Participate in chart reviews, utilization review processes, and quality assurance activities to maintain high standards of clinical care.
Walk-In Access and Engagement
- Provide oversight of walk-in access hours and ensure timely assessment and engagement of individuals seeking behavioral health services.
- Support clinicians in conducting comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments and determining eligibility for MHOTRS services.
- Promote trauma-informed engagement practices that prioritize safety, client choice, and culturally responsive care.
Crisis Response and Risk Management
- Provide clinical leadership during psychiatric crises or urgent situations that arise during evening and weekend hours.
- Guide clinicians in conducting suicide risk assessments, safety planning, and crisis intervention consistent with agency and OMH standards.
- Ensure appropriate incident reporting, documentation, and follow-up in accordance with regulatory and risk management protocols.
- Participate in the rotation of the after-hours on-call system, responding to urgent client needs, including risk assessment, crisis intervention, and safety planning, while ensuring appropriate documentation, incident reporting when indicated, and coordination of follow-up care.
Care Coordination and Integrated Services
- Support coordination of care with primary care providers, hospitals, community-based providers, and Health Home care management programs to ensure continuity of care.
- Facilitate referrals to appropriate levels of care, including crisis services, inpatient psychiatric services, substance use treatment programs, and community support.
- Promote integrated approaches to care that address behavioral health, physical health, and social determinants of health.
Program Operations and Staff Support
- Maintain responsibility for the safe and effective operation of the clinic during evening and weekend hours.
- Serve as the primary clinical and operational point of contact during non-traditional hours and communicate critical issues to senior leadership as needed.
- Provide guidance and support to staff to ensure a collaborative, respectful, and trauma-informed workplace environment.
Quality Improvement and Program Development
- Support ongoing quality improvement initiatives, including monitoring service delivery outcomes and identifying opportunities to strengthen access, engagement, and retention in care.
- Contribute program readiness for OMH audits, regulatory reviews, and site visits.
- Collaborate with clinic leadership to identify service delivery gaps and support program development initiatives that enhance access to care.
Clinical Assessment and Treatment
- Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments and diagnostic evaluations to determine clinical needs and eligibility for services within the MHOTRS clinic.
- Develop and maintain person-centered treatment plans that reflect individualized goals, strengths, and recovery objectives.
- Provide evidence-based individual, family, and group psychotherapy to children, adolescents, adults, and families.
- Monitor treatment progress and adjust interventions based on clinical presentation, treatment response, and ongoing assessment.
Documentation and Regulatory Compliance
- Maintain timely, accurate, and Medicaid-compliant clinical documentation, including intake assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, collateral contacts, and discharge summaries.

Care Coordination and Collaboration
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary treatment team, including psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, case managers, and other clinical staff.
- Coordinate care with primary care providers, hospitals, schools, child welfare agencies, and community-based organizations to ensure continuity of care.
- Facilitate referrals to appropriate services, including higher levels of care, crisis services, substance use treatment, and community support.
Engagement and Trauma-Informed Care
- Delivery services using trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and recovery-oriented approaches that promote engagement and client empowerment
- Support individuals and families in identifying strengths and building skills that enhance functioning and resilience.
- Promote equitable and inclusive care that recognizes the impact of trauma, systemic barriers, and social determinants of health.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Strong leadership skills as well as individual/group counseling skills.
- Direct experience working in a mental health article 31 preferred
- Evidence based practices- CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing.
- Trauma Informed Care, EMDR certification is a plus.
- Must be computer literate.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
