Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Spanish Medical Interpreter to facilitate clear and accurate communication between healthcare providers and Spanish-speaking patients. In this vital role, you will serve as a bridge, ensuring that medical information, patient concerns, and treatment plans are conveyed effectively, respecting confidentiality and cultural nuances. Your expertise will help improve patient outcomes, enhance the quality of care, and promote a welcoming environment for diverse populations. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in healthcare delivery through interpretation and translation services.

Duties

Provide real-time interpretation for medical consultations, procedures, and administrative interactions between Spanish-speaking patients and healthcare staff
Translate medical documents, patient records, consent forms, and educational materials accurately and efficiently
Review medical documentation to ensure clarity, completeness, and compliance with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) regulations
Assist with social work-related communications, including child protective services referrals or family support discussions when needed
Maintain confidentiality of all protected health information (PHI) in accordance with HIPAA standards
Support hospital staff by interpreting during emergency situations or urgent care scenarios with sensitivity and professionalism
Document interpretation sessions thoroughly for medical records and billing purposes when required

Experience

Proven experience as a bilingual interpreter or translator in healthcare settings or related fields such as social work or child protective services
Strong knowledge of medical terminology in both English and Spanish to ensure precise communication
Familiarity with interpretation techniques including consecutive and simultaneous interpretation methods
Experience working with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and documentation review processes
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations governing patient privacy and data security
Ability to interpret American Sign Language is a plus but not required; multilingual skills are highly valued
Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex information clearly and compassionately in high-pressure situations
