Position Summary
The Packager is responsible for safely packaging, staging, and transporting materials throughout the warehouse and production areas while ensuring products are prepared for shipment according to customer specifications and Company quality standards. This position supports production operations by accurately measuring materials, maintaining inventory accuracy, and operating forklifts and other material handling equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Essential Responsibilities
- Safely load, unload, package, and transport materials using forklifts and other authorized material handling equipment.
- Prepare materials for shipment using appropriate packaging methods and tools.
- Accurately measure materials using a tape measure (testing required).
- Complete required work orders, shipping documentation, and inventory records.
- Inspect materials for quality issues or product defects prior to packaging.
- Read and follow work instructions, production schedules, and change notices with minimal supervision.
- Operate packaging tools and equipment, including drills, power saws, staplers, and nail guns.
- Maintain inventory accuracy and proper material identification and traceability.
- Follow all Company safety policies, quality procedures, inventory control practices, and ISO 9001 standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
- High School Diploma, GED, or applicable trade school training.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Ability to accurately read a tape measure (testing required).
- Previous experience using drills, power saws, staplers, and nail guns.
- Prior experience in construction, roofing, packaging, or a related industrial environment.
- Ability to read and understand work instructions and complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
Preferred
- Forklift experience; certification is a plus.
- Experience in warehouse, manufacturing, or industrial packaging operations.
- Knowledge of specialty metals, inventory control, and material handling procedures.
Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to:
- Stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, and lift throughout the workday.
- Lift up to 50 pounds independently and heavier materials using mechanical lifting equipment.
- Safely operate forklifts and other material handling equipment.
- Use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Read measuring devices accurately and perform repetitive packaging tasks.
- Work in a warehouse or manufacturing environment with varying temperatures, moving equipment, and moderate to high noise levels.
