Pet Care Specialist (Dog Walker & Pet Sitter) Overview

As a Pet Care Specialist, you'll travel to clients' homes to provide personalized care for their beloved pets while they're at work, away on vacation, or simply need an extra helping hand. Every day is different—you may spend your morning walking a playful Labrador, your afternoon caring for a flock of chickens or goats, and your evening snuggling with cats during an overnight stay.
We care for everything from dogs and cats to rabbits, birds, reptiles, horses, and farm animals. Our service areas include Flemington, Branchburg, Readington, Whitehouse Station, Neshanic Station, Somerville, and surrounding communities.

Responsibilities
- Travel to clients' homes to provide exceptional care for their pets.
- Walk dogs safely while reinforcing good leash manners.
- Feed pets according to detailed care instructions.
- Refresh water, administer treats, and provide enrichment activities.
- Play with, exercise, cuddle, and socialize pets based on their individual personalities and needs.
- Clean litter boxes, pick up pet waste, and maintain clean feeding and living areas.
- Care for a variety of animals including dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, reptiles, fish, horses, chickens, ducks, goats, sheep, and other small farm animals.
- Administer medications as directed by pet owners (training provided when needed).
- Provide drop-in visits and overnight pet sitting in clients' homes.
- Observe pets for changes in behavior or health and communicate concerns promptly.
- Send visit updates, photos, and detailed notes to pet owners after each visit.
- Build trusting relationships with both clients and their pets while delivering outstanding customer service.
What We're Looking For
- Genuine passion for animals and their well-being.
- Comfortable caring for a wide variety of household and farm animals (or willing to learn).
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
- Comfortable driving between client homes throughout your scheduled area.
- Dependable, punctual, and trustworthy.
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
- Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Ability to walk multiple dogs, bend, kneel, climb stairs, and lift up to 50 pounds when necessary.
- Smartphone with reliable internet access for scheduling, navigation, and visit updates.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in pet sitting, dog walking, animal rescue, boarding/daycare, grooming, farming, equine care, or other animal-related fields is a plus—but not required.
- Pet CPR/First Aid certification is a plus.
Pay: $22.69 - $27.32 per hour
