About Vargo Associates

Vargo Associates is a multidisciplinary land surveying and mapping firm with over 35 years of experience serving clients across New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware. We specialize in boundary determination, environmental surveys, hydrographic surveys, topographic mapping, utility route surveys, ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, Green Acres Surveys, and NJ SADC Farmland Preservation Surveys for public and private sector clients at the local, state, and federal levels.

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Survey Party Chief to join our team of geospatial professionals. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in land surveying, leadership skills and the ability to oversee survey crew operations.

Responsibilities:

Lead a crew of one or two instrument operators and coordinate survey crew activities
Use Trimble Robotic Total Stations, Data Collector, GNSS and other equipment to collect data
Carry and set up the instruments and equipment and prepare the job site for a survey
Care for and maintain the survey instruments and equipment as well as stock the survey vehicle
Ensure the crew uses appropriate safety equipment and follows established work safety policies, practices and procedures
Collaborate with project managers to meet deadlines

Qualifications:

High School/GED or equivalent
Documented experience as a Survey Party Chief or similar role
Valid driver's license and a clean driving record is required
Strong leadership, strategic planning and communication skills are required
In depth knowledge of surveying practices and equipment
Effectively work as a team, collaborate, contribute and respect others.
Ability to read, write, and understand English to comprehend verbal and written communications.
Ability to work in various weather conditions
