Job Summary

JOB SUMMARY
The City of Frederick is seeking a dynamic arts and culture programs coordinator to support the Office of Arts and Culture’s existing and growing programs. The Arts and Culture Program Coordinator supports the City's Office of Arts & Culture by managing public art initiatives, assisting with community engagement efforts, and contributing to special projects that advance the City's cultural, creative, and civic goals. Working closely with the Manager of Arts and Culture, the Coordinator will oversee the City's Art in City Hall rotating exhibitions program and the City’s collection, while supporting outreach initiatives, public events, artist engagement, communications, and other strategic projects. This is a highly collaborative role that requires strong organizational skills, an ability to manage multiple tasks, and a passion for contributing to initiatives that promote equitable access to arts and cultural experiences for residents, artists and other stakeholders.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist in coordinating and supporting the implementation of key programs such as Art in City Hall, the City’s public art and art collection, and film permitting process.
Coordinate exhibition and public art installation, deinstallation, maintenance schedules and related logistics.
Respond to inquiries from artists, residents, and community partners.
Develop exhibition and collection materials, artist information, signage, and promotional content.
Maintain program records and calendars, artwork inventories, exhibition documentation, mailing lists and digital resources.
Coordinate organization of exhibition receptions and artist recognition events.
Represent the Office of Arts & Culture at community events as assigned.
Collect and organize program data to support evaluation and reporting.
Participate in departmental meetings and collaborate with other City departments, as assigned.
Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned to support the Office of Arts and Culture goals and projects.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Any combination of training and experience which demonstrates ability to perform the duties and responsibilities as described; a typical qualifying background would include coursework in arts management, fine arts, art history or public administration
At least 1-2 years of experience in project coordination, community engagement, or administrative support, ideally in arts and culture sector, public service, or nonprofit sectors.
Proven ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders, including artists, nonprofit organizations, policymakers, and other community stakeholders.

REQUIRED SKILLS:
Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Ability to work independently, take initiative, and contribute effectively to team efforts.
Attention to detail and accuracy, especially in tracking and reporting data.
A commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in community programs.

OTHER DESIRABLES:
Associate or bachelor's degree in arts management, fine arts, public administration or related field.
Bilingual (any language)?
Experience in cultural institution or local government.
