About the Role
The Maintenance Mechanic Lead Technician reports to the Maintenance Department Supervisor. Responsibilities include maintenance duties, mentoring and training of mechanic shift team, controls troubleshooting and administrative processes as they relate to the maintenance department. This position works closely with various levels of employees and management team to ensure the mechanical infrastructure of the plant is maintained and optimized properly to ensure efficient processing and maximum uptime.

Rotating 12-Hour Shifts:

Day: 5:45 AM – 6:15 PM or

Night: 5:45 PM – 6:15 AM

Schedule: 3 on, 2 off, 2 on, 3 off (alternating weekly)
What You'll Do
-
Repair, maintenance, or service of our production facilities
-
Mentor and train mechanic shift team
-
Monitoring and maintenance of mechanical or hydraulic system components
-
Installation of complementary manufacturing equipment
-
Monitoring and maintenance of mechanical system parts
-
Reconstruction measures and active support in optimization projects
-
Provide assistance to other workers as needed
-
Follow safety and work procedures
-
Must be able to effectively handle situations in the workplace where there are difference in opinions and engage supervisor/management when necessary

✅ What We’re Looking For
-
Heavy Industry Mechanical Expertise: Deep experience troubleshooting massive hydraulic systems, high-tension pneumatic lines, gearboxes, and large conveyor networks.

Precision Alignment Skills: Ability to calibrate high-speed headrigs, bandsaws, edgers, and trimsaws down to exact millimeter specifications.

Safety Leadership: Zero-tolerance mindset for safety failures; strict enforcement of complex Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols in high-risk zones.

Under-Pressure Decision Making: Proven capability to lead a crew through high-stress, unplanned downtime events to get the mill running safely and quickly.

Industrial Automation & PLCs: Ability to interface with and troubleshoot automated sorting systems, laser scanners, and PLC optimization software (such as Allen-Bradley).

Advanced Diagnostics: Mastery of precision tools like laser alignment systems, vibration analyzers, multimeters, and ultrasonic testing gear.

Welding & Fabrication: Proficiency in MIG/TIG or stick welding and torch cutting to perform structural repairs on heavy-duty log decks or chutes.

CMMS Platforms: Experience tracking heavy equipment run-hours, scheduling automated lubrication cycles, and logging parts inventory in asset management software.
Preferred Qualities

High School Diploma Preferred

Minimum of 3 years’ Millwright/Maintenance Mechanic experience preferred

Fabrication experience preferred

Must be dependable and show ability to take direction

Teamwork oriented with ability to work independently

Able to work flexible schedules, shift work and long hours

Perform essential functions of job that includes walking, standing, climbing stairs, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds

Ability to stand/walk for long periods

Frequent lifting, bending, and handling heavy materials

Regular outdoor work in heat, cold, wet, or humid environments

Exposure to moving mechanical equipment
