Job Summary
Provides dynamic leadership and assumes responsibility for the full range of the museums educational programs and strategies. Collaborates across departments to plan and implement educational initiatives that reflect the highest standards of intellectual rigor and stewardship. Leads and strengthens engagement with FIU faculty and students.
- Works collaboratively across museum departments to develop and plan educational programs for all audiences and implement educational programs.
- Direct and support the Education department's efforts in the development of interpretive programs and materials for all of the museum's publics; the positioning of the Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum exclusive education programs; and the consideration, expansion and implementation of new models for museum learning.
- Manages all organizational aspects (logistics, travel, payment, attendee registration, etc.) and development of related collateral and press materials for a limited number of programs.
- Oversees and manages the development and realization of innovative and ambitious programs, partnerships and alliances to encourage and grow collaboration with students and faculty to increase utilization of the Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum collections in the academic programs of the University.
- Participates in the exhibition development process working closely with curatorial and designs teams to develop interpretative and educational materials.
- Develops and oversees budgets for programs. Negotiates contracts with outside contractors as needed for programs. Identifies and participates in grant proposal development and reporting.
- Serves as a University card user for departmental transactions. Adheres to University credit card policies and procedures.
- Leads and manages the evolving student and academic engagement program designed to increase student participation in programming, learning experiences, and faculty utilization for the Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum. Oversees student interns and volunteers.
- Collaborates with the Director, Curator, and Development team to plan and coordinate educational programs, tours, and special events, ensuring programming aligns with the museums mission, exhibitions, institutional priorities, and audience engagement goals.
- Oversees and coordinates teaching artists, presenters, and contracted vendors engaged throughout the year to support museum programming. Manages scheduling, communication, required documentation, contracting and payment coordination, and program logistics, serving as the primary point of contact from initial engagement through completion.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree in an appropriate specialization and two years of experience; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate specialization and four years of experience.
Desired Qualifications
- State of Florida Professional Educator's Certification.
