Full Job Description

We're conducting a confidential search for an experienced Executive Chef to lead the daily operation of the kitchen in an upscale restaurant known for outstanding food, service, and hospitality.

The Executive Chef is responsible for the daily operation of the kitchen, including food preparation, service, kitchen staffing, inventory, sanitation, and food quality. The Executive Chef will initially learn and consistently execute the restaurant’s current menu and will then work with management to evaluate and implement appropriate menu changes.

Generally, you’ll be responsible for the following:

Oversee daily kitchen preparation and service.
Learn and maintain the restaurant’s current recipes, portions, presentation, and quality standards.
Supervise, schedule, train, and provide direction to kitchen employees.
Ensure the kitchen is properly staffed and prepared for regular service and events.
Monitor food quality, consistency, presentation, and ticket times.
Maintain inventory and complete food and supply ordering.
Monitor food costs, portioning, product usage, and waste.
Work with management to develop, cost, test, and implement menu changes and specials.
Plan and execute food service for private parties and special events.
Ensure compliance with food-safety, sanitation, and workplace-safety requirements.
Maintain a clean, organized, and properly functioning kitchen.
Identify equipment, staffing, inventory, and operational needs and communicate them to management.
Perform food preparation, cooking, cleaning, and other kitchen duties when necessary.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Work Schedule

The restaurant is currently open:

Tuesday through Thursday: 5:00 p.m.–9:00 p.m.
Friday and Saturday: 5:00 p.m.–10:00 p.m.

The Executive Chef’s working hours will extend beyond public restaurant hours to accommodate preparation, closing responsibilities, ordering, inventory, employee supervision, private events, and other operational needs. The schedule may vary based on event bookings and business demands.

We’d like to talk to you if you have:

Previous experience as a Head Chef, Executive Chef, Sous Chef, or similar kitchen leader.
Experience supervising and training kitchen employees.
Knowledge of food preparation, kitchen operations, sanitation, and food-safety practices.
Ability to manage inventory, ordering, food costs, and waste.
Ability to lead employees and remain organized during high-volume service.
Dependable and available to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events as required.

Physical requirements for success in this role, with or without reasonable accommodation include:

Remain standing and walking for extended periods.
Frequently bend, reach, twist, push, pull, and move throughout the kitchen.
Regularly use hands and arms to prepare, handle, and serve food.
Safely operate knives, slicers, cooking equipment, and other commercial kitchen tools.
Regularly lift and carry up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
Work in areas that may be hot, cold, wet, humid, noisy, or crowded.
Work near open flames, hot surfaces, steam, sharp objects, and cleaning products.
Communicate effectively with kitchen employees, management, vendors, and other staff members.
