Friday: 7:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.
Night Shift:
Sunday through Thursday: 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.
Candidates must be able to work the full assigned schedule, including overtime and schedule adjustments when required by production needs.
Job Summary
We are seeking a dependable, driven, and safety-focused Flexographic Printing Press Helper to support the setup and operation of wide-web flexographic printing presses.
This position is intended for a motivated candidate who demonstrates the mechanical aptitude, initiative, work ethic, and drive to develop into a Flexographic Press Operator. The ideal candidate will be eager to learn, take ownership of assigned responsibilities, and actively build the technical skills necessary for advancement.
The Press Helper will assist with material preparation, press setups, roll changes, ink and tooling management, quality inspections, housekeeping, and other duties required to keep the press operating safely and efficiently.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist the Press Operator with press setups, changeovers, startups, and shutdowns.
- Stage film, inks, printing plates, sleeves, anilox rolls, doctor blades, and other materials.
- Load and unload rolls of flexible packaging film using approved material-handling equipment.
- Help install and remove plate sleeves, anilox rolls, ink chambers, and press tooling.
- Support roll changes, splicing, web threading, and material identification.
- Verify that materials, inks, plates, and job components match the production work order.
- Monitor the printed web for dirty print, streaking, color variation, registration issues, missing print, and other quality defects.
- Immediately notify the Press Operator of any quality, equipment, or safety concerns.
- Assist with viscosity checks, ink circulation, ink changes, and color management as trained.
- Complete production paperwork, material transactions, and required quality documentation accurately.
- Maintain identification and traceability of raw materials, work-in-process rolls, and finished products.
- Clean ink pans, chambers, pumps, hoses, decks, press components, and surrounding work areas.
- Follow all safety, quality, housekeeping, food-safety, and production procedures.
- Participate in daily and weekly preventive cleaning activities.
- Work cooperatively with Press Operators, Quality Assurance, Maintenance, the Ink Department, Mounting, and other production teams.
- Actively participate in training and demonstrate continued progress toward becoming a Flexographic Press Operator.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Strong desire and drive to develop into a Flexographic Press Operator.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and ability to learn manufacturing equipment and processes.
- Self-motivated, dependable, and willing to take initiative.
- Manufacturing, printing, converting, or machine-operation experience is preferred but not required.
- Flexographic printing experience is a plus.
- Ability to follow written work instructions and verbal directions.
- Basic math, measurement, and computer-entry skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
- Dependable attendance and ability to arrive on time for every scheduled shift.
- Willingness to learn, accept coaching, and apply feedback.
- Ability to remain focused and productive throughout extended shifts.
- Ability to work safely in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Ability to communicate clearly with operators, supervisors, and quality personnel.
- Availability to work overtime, weekends, and schedule changes when production needs require.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for the majority of a 12-hour shift.
- Ability to frequently bend, reach, push, pull, climb, and perform repetitive movements.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to safely work around moving equipment, inks, solvents, and production materials.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment where noise, odors, and temperature variations may be present.
