Title: Front Gate Attendant

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Starting Pay Rate: $11/hour

Status: Part-Time

Department: Aquatics

Reports to: Pool Manager

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Pool Manager, the Front Gate Attendant is responsible for offering an enthusiastic greeting to members and guests as the come into the YMCA and providing friendly, efficient service.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Greets and assists all members, potential members and staff in a courteous, professional and friendly manner.

Distributes wrist bands to youth swimmers.

Responds to members’ needs. Contact appropriate personnel when necessary. Handle complaints in a courteous manner. Effectively negotiate and resolve customer service problems. Use appropriate forms to communicate concerns or praise.

Ensures proper procedures and policies are being followed by all members and guests.

Incorporates YMCA values of “Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility and Faith” into all aspects of the position, to ensure YMCA values are being integrated into our culture and programs.

Models our YMCA values through fun, positive relationships with staff and members. Seek every opportunity to encourage, motivate and thank fellow staff members for their work.

Communicates effectively, demonstrate positive interpersonal skills and work cooperatively as a team member. Treat everyone with courtesy, respect and in a pleasant manner. Embrace differences among people.

Demonstrates a willingness to learn and grow and the ability to accept constructive feedback.

Consistently perform duties in a safe and conscientious manner within agreed upon timeframes. Follow the YMCA standards, policies, and procedures.

Understands the YMCA’s mission, goals, objectives and programs.

Supports and promotes annual campaigns efforts within branch and across association.

Engages in active and healthy lifestyle to promote personal well-being and exemplifies all characteristics of active living.

Attends all required trainings, in-service meetings, and branch meetings as required.

Covers all schedules shifts and/or finds substitute coverage for 100% of scheduled shifts.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have current Basic Life Support, First Aid, and Oxygen certifications.

Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.

Must have good communication skills, both verbal and written.

Ability to establish and maintain harmonious relationships with staff, volunteers, members, and participants is essential.

Demonstrated skills in customer service, organizational skills, communications, computer knowledge, sales, interpersonal skills, multi-tasking, and conflict resolution.

Must have knowledge of emergency procedures and policies to promote safe, effective responses to emergency situations.

Must promote the YMCA mission and apply core values, including customer service, meeting quality standards for service, and a maintaining safe environment for the enjoyment of all.

Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

Must be able to handle multiple tasks, work heavily with families and children.

Employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, talk and hear.
Frequently required to stand for long periods of time, climb and descend narrow stairs in dim lighting conditions, and to sit, stoop, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus and to see in different outdoor environments.
Frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but is occasionally loud.
