Summary:
Responsible for supervising personnel engaged in performing a variety of diagnostic procedures. This is a working supervisor position. The Radiology Supervisor performs diagnostic radiographic procedures in accordance with established professional and departmental standards and is responsible for the daily operations of the Radiology Department.

- Previous Supervisory experience preferred. Graduate of an accredited program in Radiologic Technology required.
- Must be licensed by the Louisiana State Radiologic Technology Board of Examiners (LSRTBE) and have certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT).
- Completed American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Working Conditions:
- Normal patient-care environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like.

a. Performs all exams within personal licensed scope of practice. (See subordinate job description).
b. Demonstrates a complete working knowledge of all radiographic and non-radiographic equipment used for Radiology and intra-procedural imaging.
c. Performs visual inspection of equipment, identifies problems, and communicates to immediate manager and/or submits AYS for equipment repair.
d. Reviews physician orders, ensuring all order criteria are met, checking for special instructions from requesting physician, and consults with the radiologist as necessary.
e. Pleasantly greets patients, confirming their correct identification and correct procedure.
f. Completely explains examination procedure to the patient and their family if present.
g. Ability to anticipate and meet the needs and expectations of customers.
h. Participates in appropriate education and on-the-job learning situations in order to develop necessary job skills.
i. Completes necessary continuing education to maintain licensure.
j. Demonstrates the ability to perform multiple tasks as required.

- Performs visual preventive safety inspections. Identifies problems and communicates to immediate Manager.
- Ensures departmental policies and procedures are up to date and works with Quality Analyst to update.
- Educates and updates department staff on new procedures or changes to current procedures.
- Knowledgeable of regulations of department and ensures procedures/practices adhere to those regulations.
Departmental Workflow: Consistently maintains departmental workflow of the departments within Diagnostic Services ensuring maximized productivity and efficiency.
- Functions productively, responsibly and exhibits adaptability with the team. Positively demonstrates VALUES of North Oaks Health System. Plans and prioritizes work while maintaining positive performance.
- Demonstrates a complete working knowledge of all Radiology equipment, supplies, communication and technical equipment within the department.
- Performs all Radiology procedures. Demonstrates anatomy under investigation through proper patient positioning and administers contrast media according to the department procedure manual. Obtains patient history and clinical data for correlation with the scans.
- Adjust technical factors in proportion to patient and body part being examined while minimizing radiation. Provides radiation protection to patient, staff and self-according to prescribed safety standards.
- Maintains necessary inventory of supplies for assigned room, rotating stock in an orderly fashion, and eliminating outdated items.
- Ensures all equipment is in good working condition.
- Works closely with scheduling to ensure departmental schedule is maximized.
Customer Relations: Consistently maintains an attitude of cooperation, clear communication, mutual respect, and courtesy to all patients, visitors, team members, medical staff, volunteers and students.
- Ability to listen to complaints and offer apologies and/or resolutions or manages up to manager/director when appropriate.
Other:
- Follows North Oaks Health System’s Compliance Program and Federal and State Regulatory guidelines.
- Performs all other duties as required or requested.
- Performs all imaging procedures as assigned. Demonstrates anatomy under investigation through proper patient positioning and utilizes ACR guidelines to obtain properly positioned images. Obtains patient history and clinical data for correlation with the images.
- Determines contrast to be utilized, consulting with physician when necessary. Prepare intravenous and oral contrast for use in patient studies. Calculate patient dosage.
- Start IV's, when necessary, as authorized by physician procedure order.
- Assists in the movement of patients, as necessary.
- Participates in continuing education activities.
- Participates in projects and assists in the development and implementation of procedures and policies.
- Organizational and Departmental Regulation Compliance (OSHA, JCAHO, LDH, DEQ, NRC, etc.)
- Up to date on all Policies, Procedures, and Competencies.
