Summary:
Assists the Cardiology Services Manager in coordinating the daily operations of Cardiovascular Services, including Diagnostic Cardiology, Echocardiography, Stress Testing, Cardiac Device Clinic, Centralized Cardiac Monitoring, Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation, and Emergency Department EKG services.
Provides frontline leadership and operational oversight for staff, workflow, scheduling, patient throughput, quality initiatives, and daily departmental operations. Serves as the primary resource for staff and assists with implementation of departmental goals, process improvement initiatives, regulatory readiness, and patient care standards.
Acts as the operational liaison between frontline staff and departmental leadership to ensure efficient, safe, and patient-centered cardiovascular services.
Provides direct patient care approximately 50% of worked hours and additional hours as needed to support departmental needs.

Minimum qualifications
• Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Three years cardiovascular, diagnostic cardiology, cardiac rehabilitation, cardiac device management, or related healthcare experience required.
• Supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
• Current applicable clinical credential (RN, RCS, RDCS, or equivalent) preferred based upon departmental needs.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities
• Knowledge of cardiovascular diagnostics, rehabilitation, telemetry monitoring, and cardiovascular operations.
• Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities across several departments simultaneously.
• Knowledge of accreditation standards, quality improvement principles, and regulatory requirements.
• Experience with EPIC, MUSE, Murj, and related cardiovascular information systems preferred.
Responsibilities:
Essential responsibilities
Daily operations
• Coordinates daily operations and workflow across all cardiovascular service areas.
• Assists with daily staffing assignments and workflow adjustments to ensure efficient patient throughput and service delivery.
• Monitors department schedules and staffing coverage to meet operational demands.
• Serves as the first point of contact for daily operational concerns, staffing issues, scheduling conflicts, and workflow barriers.
• Assists with management of inpatient, outpatient, rehabilitation, device clinic, and emergency department cardiovascular operations.
• Coordinates daily communication between staff, physicians, departments, and leadership.
• Assists with maintaining efficient patient flow and minimizing delays in testing, interpretation, and treatment.
Staff leadership
• Provides direct supervision and daily leadership support to cardiovascular staff.
• Assists with employee onboarding, orientation, competency validation, and training.
• Conducts routine staff rounding to identify operational issues and opportunities for improvement.
• Assists with performance evaluations, coaching, counseling, and employee development activities.
• Monitors attendance, scheduling compliance, productivity, and staff performance expectations.
• Promotes teamwork, professionalism, accountability, and excellent customer service.
• Serves as a mentor and resource for staff development and problem resolution.
Quality, regulatory, and accreditation support
• Assists with maintaining departmental readiness for Joint Commission, CMS, state surveys, and accreditation requirements.
• Participates in accreditation activities for IAC Echocardiography, AACVPR Cardiac Rehabilitation, AACVPR Pulmonary Rehabilitation, Chest Pain Accreditation, and related quality programs.
• Monitors compliance with departmental policies, procedures, competencies, and documentation standards.
• Assists with collection and tracking of quality metrics, operational indicators, and departmental performance measures.
• Participates in quality improvement initiatives and process improvement projects.
• Assists with investigation and follow-up of patient complaints, safety events, and operational concerns.
Workflow, technology, and revenue integrity support
• Assists with EPIC, MUSE, Murj, telemetry monitoring systems, and departmental workflow processes.
• Monitors charge reconciliation activities and assist with ensuring accurate documentation and workflow completion.
• Assists with implementation of new technologies, software applications, and departmental process improvements.
• Participates in testing and validation of workflow changes related to scheduling, documentation, orders, and operational systems.
• Assists with monitoring work queues, interface issues, and operational follow-up activities.
Staffing and scheduling
• Develops and maintains departmental schedules under the direction of the Cardiology Services Manager.
• Coordinates vacation requests, call schedules, holiday coverage, and staffing adjustments.
• Assists with payroll review, attendance tracking, and staffing productivity monitoring.
• Identifies staffing concerns and communicates resource needs to departmental leadership.
Education and competency management
• Assists with coordination of annual competencies, departmental education, and mandatory training requirements.
• Supports orientation and onboarding programs for new employees.
• Assists with student clinical rotations and educational activities.
• Maintains records related to competencies, certifications, licenses, and educational requirements.
Equipment and departmental readiness
• Assists with equipment maintenance coordination, supply management, and departmental readiness activities.
• Performs routine monitoring of equipment functionality and reports concerns to appropriate departments.
• Assists with inventory management and supply utilization monitoring.
Communication and collaboration
• Serves as liaison between frontline staff, physicians, ancillary departments, and leadership.
• Participates in departmental meetings, committees, and organizational initiatives.
• Communicates operational concerns, staffing issues, and workflow opportunities to the Cardiology Services Manager.
• Assists with implementation of departmental goals and operational initiatives.
