Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Accounts Receivable Specialist to join our finance team. In this vital role, you will manage the full cycle of accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely collection of outstanding balances and maintaining accurate financial records. Your expertise in accounting software, financial concepts, and customer service will drive efficiency and accuracy in our revenue cycle management. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a thriving organization committed to excellence in financial operations.

Duties

Manage accounts receivable functions including invoicing, payment processing, and account reconciliation using various accounting systems such as Sage, PeopleSoft, QuickBooks, and specialized medical billing software
Monitor aging reports and follow up on overdue accounts through professional negotiation and effective communication
Perform data entry with precision, utilizing Excel data analysis tools, formulas, and 10 key typing skills to ensure accurate record-keeping
Collaborate with internal departments to resolve billing discrepancies and ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls
Conduct account analysis to identify trends or issues affecting receivables, applying technical accounting knowledge for accurate journal entries and account adjustments
Support accounts payable processes when necessary, ensuring balanced debits & credits within double entry bookkeeping systems
Assist with medical collection efforts by understanding CPT coding, ICD-10 coding standards, and medical terminology to facilitate smooth revenue cycle management in healthcare settings

Experience

Proven experience in accounts receivable management within a corporate or healthcare environment
Strong working knowledge of accounting software such as Sage, PeopleSoft, QuickBooks, or similar platforms
Familiarity with financial software including Excel for data analysis and reporting purposes
Experience with governmental or non-profit accounting is a plus
Demonstrated ability to analyze financial data, perform account reconciliation, and execute journal entries accurately
Excellent negotiation skills combined with professional phone etiquette for effective customer service and collections calls
Knowledge of medical billing procedures, CPT coding, ICD-10 standards, and medical terminology is advantageous
Strong understanding of financial concepts such as debits & credits, revenue recognition, and technical accounting principles
