TYPE OF RECRUITMENT: External

POSITION: Heating Plant Operator

LOCATION: NDSCS – Wahpeton, North Dakota

TYPE OF APPOINTMENT: Full-time, 12-month, benefited position

WHO MAY BE CONSIDERED: Anyone eligible to work in the United States

JOB SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Heating Plant Operator Lead, performs journey level duties within the heating plant and other related duties as assigned. The position may perform other duties that are considered necessary for the operation of the heating plant and campus heating distribution system.

Minimum Requirements

Support NDSCS Mission, Vision and Values
High school diploma or GED
One year exp. with high pressure boiler operations / related equipment and/or mechanical exp.
Ability to work with high pressures/ temperatures, hazardous chemicals, heights, and confined spaces
Basic mechanical skills
Ability to operate basic hand tools, power tools, computerized workstations, water analysis lab equip., diagnostic equip, payloaders
Ability to lift a max of 50-75 lbs

Preferred Qualifications

Boiler operator license comparable to Minnesota 1st Class, Grade B or higher
Multi-fuel type boiler operation experience
Valid Driver's License

Additional Information

SALARY: $52,000-$60,000, commensurate with education and experience

BENEFITS: NDSCS offers a comprehensive benefits package with an estimated value of over $25,000. The package includes single or family health insurance coverage with premiums paid for by the College – with an effective date for new employees the first of the month following the date of hire. Optional benefits include life, dental, and vision insurance, a flexible spending account, and supplemental retirement plans.
