Job Purpose:

The Data Entry Clerk at the City of York is responsible for accurately inputting and updating data into various systems and databases. The role is essential in ensuring the integrity and accessibility of information across departments, supporting efficient operations and decision-making processes.

Key Responsibilities:

Enter and update data into designated databases and systems with precision and attention to detail.
Verify and correct data discrepancies to maintain data accuracy and reliability.
Organize and maintain electronic and paper records to ensure easy retrieval and reference.
Collaborate with team members to ensure data consistency and address any data-related issues.
Follow established procedures and protocols for data entry tasks to ensure compliance with organizational standards.
Assist in generating reports and summaries from data as required by different departments.
Maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive information in accordance with company policies.
Participate in training sessions and meetings to stay updated on new data entry technologies and methodologies.

Required Education:

High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Required Experience:

Minimum of 1 year of experience in a data entry role or similar administrative position.
Experience working with databases and data management systems is preferred.
Familiarity with office equipment, such as photocopiers and scanners, is advantageous.

Required Skills and Abilities:

Proficient in typing with a high degree of accuracy and speed.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
