Full Job Description

The Legal Assistant provides critical day-to-day support to attorneys by ensuring the smooth handling of administrative, clerical, and client-related tasks. This role plays an important part in maintaining organization, meeting deadlines, and supporting effective communication within the legal team and with clients.

Key Responsibilities

Document Support

Draft, format, and proofread legal documents, correspondence, and basic pleadings
Assist with preparing and filing documents with courts and administrative agencies
Support the organization and preparation of case materials

Administrative Coordination

Manage calendars, including scheduling meetings, court dates, and deadlines
Answer and direct phone calls, take messages, and respond to routine inquiries
Coordinate appointments and maintain accurate records of communications

File Management

Maintain organized physical and electronic case files
Ensure documents are properly filed and easily accessible
Handle sensitive information with a high level of confidentiality

Client Support

Serve as a point of contact for clients, providing updates and gathering necessary information
Assist with new client intake and explain basic information about firm services
Schedule client meetings and assist with preparation for appointments

Qualifications

High school diploma required
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Bilingual (preferred)

Skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Working Conditions:

May require occasional travel to courts, post office, or other locations for delivery of documents.
