Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive APC Home Health Scheduling Clerk to coordinate patient appointments and manage scheduling operations efficiently. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, extensive experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems, and a thorough understanding of medical administrative procedures. This role is vital in ensuring seamless communication between healthcare providers, patients, and support staff to deliver exceptional home health services.

Responsibilities

Schedule patient visits accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks, ensuring optimal utilization of resources.
Coordinate with clinical teams to confirm appointment details, provider availability, and patient needs while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations.
Verify insurance coverage and benefits through health insurance systems to facilitate smooth billing processes.
Review medical documentation for completeness and accuracy prior to scheduling, adhering to HIPAA confidentiality policies.
Manage multi-line phone systems with professionalism, providing excellent patient service and addressing inquiries promptly.
Maintain organized medical records and ensure proper filing of documentation in accordance with health information management standards.
Assist with administrative tasks such as data entry, filing, and updating patient information using Microsoft Office tools or specialized practice management software.

Requirements

Proven experience in medical scheduling, medical office management, or administrative support within healthcare settings such as clinics or hospitals.
Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems including Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks; experience with Eaglesoft or Dentrix is a plus.
Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding standards, and Medicare billing processes.
Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and data entry accuracy (10 key typing).
Excellent communication skills with a professional phone etiquette and customer service orientation.
Ability to review medical documentation thoroughly while maintaining strict confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA policies.
Bilingual abilities are preferred to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
Prior clinic or dental office experience is advantageous; familiarity with health insurance verification and care plan coordination is highly valued.
