Job Overview
Join our vibrant team as a Kitchen Manager / Childcare Cook, where your culinary skills and passion for nourishing young bodies come together to create a healthy environment for children. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking nutritious meals that meet dietary guidelines while ensuring food safety and quality. Your creativity in menu planning and dedication to excellent food handling practices will directly impact the well-being and happiness of the children in our care.

As our Kitchen Manager, you will lead creative menu planning and prepare balanced meals that meet nutritional guidelines while maintaining rigorous allergy management protocols to ensure the safety of every child.

You will also oversee CACFP compliance, ensuring all documentation meets federal standards, and manage the kitchen budget and inventory with precision. Duties

Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen environment in accordance with health regulations and safety standards
Prepare and cook balanced, appealing meals tailored to children's dietary needs, following approved menus and nutritional guidelines
Plan weekly menus that incorporate variety, seasonal ingredients, and accommodate dietary restrictions or allergies
Ensure all food handling procedures adhere to strict food safety standards and sanitation protocols
Manage food inventory, monitor stock levels, and place orders for supplies as needed to ensure uninterrupted meal service
Maintain accurate records of food preparation, storage temperatures, and sanitation practices
Must have CACFP and Safe Serve Certificates.

Experience

Experience cooking in a childcare center.
Prior experience in dietary departments or as a dietary aide within childcare or healthcare settings is highly desirable
Proven background in menu planning, food preparation, and cooking
Strong knowledge of food safety regulations, proper food handling techniques, and kitchen sanitation standards
Skilled in meal preparation using various culinary techniques
Experience working in the food industry or catering services is beneficial for understanding large-scale food service operations
Familiarity with dietary restrictions common in childcare settings and ability to adapt recipes accordingly
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining high-quality standards

Requirements:

Must be at least 18 years of age, have a high school degree or GED, CACFP and Safe Serve Certification. 
Meet federal, as well as individual state requirements (i.e., physical, OSHA) and maintain credentials for the position (i.e., ongoing training). 
Minimum of 1 year of experience in a kitchen, preferably in a child care center kitchen.
Health Screening/TB Test within last 12 months. 
Fingerprinting/Criminal Record Clearance/NSOR/ Child Abuse Index, FBI, and mandated reporter. All clearance must be completed before hiring.
