New Cumberland Federal Credit Union (NCFCU) is looking for a talented and solutions-focused Symitar Programmer / Core Systems Technician to join our team!

About the Role
The Symitar Programmer / Core Systems Technician is a mid-level technical position responsible for supporting, maintaining, and enhancing NCFCU’s Symitar core processing system.
You’ll work with PowerOn programming, system configuration, reporting, integrations, data management, troubleshooting, and system operations. You’ll collaborate with IT, Accounting, Lending, Operations, and other business areas to develop solutions that improve efficiency, accuracy, compliance, and the overall employee and member experience.
The ideal candidate is technically curious, highly analytical, detail-oriented, and comfortable taking ownership of projects and solving problems in a fast-paced financial environment.
What You’ll Do
Symitar Core System Support
- Maintain, support, and enhance the Jack Henry Symitar core processing system.
- Perform system configuration, parameter maintenance, and operational setup.
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot production issues.
- Support daily, monthly, and year-end processing activities.
- Identify opportunities to improve system functionality, efficiency, and reliability.
Programming & PowerOn Development
- Develop, modify, test, and maintain PowerOn programs and scripts.
- Create and maintain custom reports, batch jobs, and automated processes.
- Troubleshoot, optimize, and improve existing PowerOn code.
- Assist with Symitar upgrades, releases, testing, and implementations.
- Develop solutions to meet evolving business and operational needs.
Reporting & Data Management
- Develop and maintain Symitar reports using PowerOn, RepGen, and SQL-based tools.
- Support data extracts, audits, and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Analyze data and troubleshoot discrepancies to ensure accuracy and integrity.
- Assist departments with reporting and data needs.
Integrations & Third-Party Support
- Support integrations and interfaces between Symitar and third-party vendors.
- Assist with file transfers, job scheduling, and data exchange troubleshooting.
- Partner with vendors and internal teams to implement new services, enhancements, and system solutions.
- Help evaluate and implement technology improvements that support Credit Union operations.
Security, Compliance & Documentation
- Follow security best practices and internal controls related to core systems.
- Assist with audits, regulatory examinations, and documentation requests.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation, procedures, and change logs.
- Ensure system changes follow established testing, approval, and change-management processes.
Collaboration & Problem Solving
- Work closely with IT, Operations, Lending, Accounting, and other departments to understand business needs and develop effective technical solutions.
- Provide technical guidance and timely resolution for system-related issues.
- Translate business needs into practical system solutions.
- Participate in projects, implementations, and process improvement initiatives.
- Participate in an on-call rotation or provide after-hours support as needed.
What We’re Looking For
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience with Jack Henry Symitar.
- Strong experience with PowerOn programming and development.
- Working knowledge of Symitar modules, including deposits, loans, accounting, and member services.
- Experience with RepGen, batch processing, and system jobs.
- Understanding of Credit Union or financial institution operations.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- A solutions-oriented mindset and willingness to look for ways to improve existing processes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field—or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience working in a Credit Union environment.
- Familiarity with Symitar Quest, SQL, APIs, or scripting languages.
- Experience supporting Symitar upgrades, conversions, or major implementations.
- Knowledge of financial institution compliance and regulatory requirements.
