Full Job Description

Position Overview:

As a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) in a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF), you will work under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist to provide therapeutic interventions tailored to the needs of residents. Your role is to assist in the development, improvement, and maintenance of the daily living skills and overall well-being of residents.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist in implementing individualized treatment plans developed by the Occupational Therapist to improve residents' functional abilities.
Encourage and assist residents in performing therapeutic activities and exercises to enhance strength, coordination, and independence.
Observe and document residents' progress, reporting any changes or concerns to the Occupational Therapist.
Educate residents and families on effective strategies and techniques to manage daily living activities.
Maintain accurate and timely records of therapy sessions and residents' progress.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure coordinated and effective care for residents.
Adapt therapeutic activities and equipment according to residents’ needs and preferences.

Qualifications:

Certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) from an accredited program.
Current state licensure or eligibility for licensure as a COTA.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift and move residents as required.
Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
