Full Job Description

Basic Function: The CHI Coordinator will identify and build rapport with individuals and families experiencing a housing crisis through housing focused case management. They will incorporate motivational interviewing techniques and a trauma-informed approach while demonstrating courteous and professional communications at all times both on the phone and in face-to-face situations. They will abide by harm reduction principles to ensure the integrity of the services provided and the integrity of the mission statement. Must have excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Possess the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Job description and duties subject to change based on grant funding and agency need. Must maintain strict consumer confidentiality.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Respond to inquiries from individuals experiencing a housing crisis either in person or via the CHI Voice Mail System.

2. Possess an active driver’s license-position will provide CHI outreach/walk in services within community-based organizations in the area on a rotating schedule.

3. Ability to multi-task and problem solve difficult situations in a trauma informed, non-judgmental, housing first approach.

4. Provide information and referral assistance for consumer to community resources; become knowledgeable in all available services by location.

5. Accurately record and maintain documentation, files and data collection as required by local, state and federal grants.

6. Participate in regular Coordinated Entry meetings and trainings.

7. Demonstrate a commitment to the values of this position: compassion, collaboration, innovation, excellence, courage, and integrity

8. Willingness to take on additional responsibilities as assigned

9. Will be evaluated on key performance areas; Ability to learn new skills, accountability, application of new skills, and building trust

Qualifications:

¨ Strong administrative skills.

¨ Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

¨ Ability to communicate clearly, and effectively with the public

¨ Ability to manage fast paced call volume, complicated, emotionally charged situations

¨ Knowledge of office operations. Strong computer skills to maintain electronic data and consumer files.

¨ Must be detailed-oriented and accurate in all tasks assigned

¨ Must demonstrate the desire and patience to help others problem solve. Build and maintain relationships with a wide variety of personality types, cultures and environments.

¨ Must understand and be empathetic to the difficulties caused by domestic violence, homelessness and/or financial disaster. Must strive to and initiate methods, ideas and goals to help improve the housing needs of all consumers.

¨ Education and/or experience in human services, social service or mental health related fields or related fields, with experience in crisis management. Or any acceptable combination of education and experience with documentation of performance Bi-lingual candidates are preferred.

Pay: $19.23 - $21.63 per hour
