Full Job Description

Job Title: MOLD MAKER

Job Responsibilities:

Performs various duties associated with producing MOLD USING MASTER CAM and repairing molds and production of metal parts.

Accountability: Tool Shop Manager

Typical Work Activities:

Reviews blueprints and specifications for new molds to be produced, plans, organizes and completes all tasks associated with making the molds.
Informs and discusses any problems or issues relating to assigned jobs with the Tool Shop Manager.
Assists the Production Manager with running samples on newly produced molds.
In conjunction with the Tool Shop and Production Managers, resolves problems relating to the product of the mold and reworks the mold to meet required specifications.
Repairs existing molds as needed.
Assists in assembly of details for specific parts.
Produces metal fixtures or other metal parts.
Inputs appropriate data into the computer.
May be required to assist in the maintenance and repair of Tool Shop Equipment.
May be required to operate a forklift
Serves on committees as required
Follows all requirements of the quality system.
Uses appropriate safety equipment at all times.
Performs other duties as required by the Tool Shop Manager.

Work Conditions:

Working hours include regular extra hours and can include being available out of regularly scheduled shift, including working weekends.
Regularly works in a noisy and dirty environment (Noise levels within OSHA standards)
Required to operate and use a variety of equipment and materials, some of which might be considered hazardous.

Appropriate Safety Equipment:

Protective eyewear required
Heat retardant gloves required when handling hot molds or materials
Toe guards required
Face shields required for welding operations
Lumbar support optional
Ear muffs optional

Educational, Experience and Skill Requirements:

A trade school degree in tool and/or mold making which includes an apprenticeship program preferred.
A minimum of two years’ experience in mold making required.
Blueprint reading skills required.
Knowledge of computerized equipment - CNC machine preferred.
Knowledgeable understanding and use of C.A.M. Software (MasterCam Mill preferred)
Must be able to work independently.
Must be capable of operating a forklift (training and certification provided)
