Full Job Description

POSITION:Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, this full-time, in-person role provides oversight to the financial operations of an organization that has supported individuals with disabilities for more than sixty years. SUMMARY:

This position functions as a member of the Executive Management team and participates in establishing and implementing major goals and objectives of the company. Administratively responsible for the organization’s Finance/Accounting, Technology, and Human Resources departments.

The position is responsible for the overall fiscal performance of the agency and oversees all state-funded contracts. Responsible for directing, maintaining and controlling an accounting system that properly reflects the financial position of company. Ensures that all internal and external recording and reporting of financial transactions meet state and federal regulatory guidelines.

Working with the CEO, oversees the development and implementation of HR-focused strategies and policies that will result in the continued staff retention, loyalty and growth of the agency. Actively collaborates with the executive management team on performance issues related to selection, compensation, and organizational development. Responsible for the compliance activities related to state and federal employment guidelines.

Responsible for promoting the overall image of the agency both internally and externally. Conducts research into outside funding sources relevant to our mission and engages in the grant writing process related to its submission.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/FUNCTIONS:

Finance

Responsible for ensuring highly efficient and stable operation of mission critical support to program participant services, and for ensuring that the agency systems meet both current and future needs.
Reviews with the board’s Budget and Finance committee operational budgets, reports on cash flow needs, investment strategies, and financial planning and fiscal analysis.
Leads the agency’s annual budget development process; oversees and monitors budget results/ activity throughout the year.
Ensures the accounting team maintains policies and procedures for Accounting Dept. based on sound accounting principles.
Responsible for all fiscal reports required by funding sources and other agency contracts.
Active participation with the executive team, responsible for highlighting the fiscal influences in business and strategic decision making.
Participates in agency development and fundraising activities.

Human Resources

Provides input to the CEO regarding employee compensation and benefits policies and conformity of the performance evaluation program.
Maintains compliance with government human resources regulations, including but not limited to, FMLA and Fair Labor standards. Maintains and monitors Dept. of Labor compliance to all applicable state and federal laws.
Supervise benefits administration to include final claims resolution, contract negotiations, approving invoices for payment and communicating benefit information to Senior Management.
Ensures appropriate wage and hour procedures and weekly payroll.
Monitors the agency’s employee performance evaluation process and provides summary information to executive management team as appropriate.

Technology

Coordinates agency technology needs with IT vendors to ensure adequate support, and smooth running operations including compliance with HIPAA and all other State and Federal requirements
Researches and recommends operating systems and software to achieve accuracy and efficiency in agency processes; supports related implementation and training.

REQUIREMENTS:

BS in Accounting, Business Management or related field. MS preferred.

Four to Five years of management experience. Direct non-profit, Human Service experience and strong Human Resource skills preferred.
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
Strong verbal and written skills as well as proven ability to lead others.
Reliable transportation with active insurance in force per Kuhn’s specifications when using personal vehicle for work related purposes.
Accounting and business software literate. Ability to manage accounts payable and receivable filing system.
Possesses strong computer skills.

SALARY RANGE:$100,000 to $125,000 per year for a 40-hour workweek (commensurate with experience).
