Job Overview
RAMCO Companies is seeking dependable, hardworking individuals to join our environmental remediation and specialty contracting team. This is a hands-on position involving demolition, asbestos and lead abatement, mold remediation, specialty cleaning, power washing, site preparation, and other commercial and residential projects throughout Connecticut and surrounding areas.
No prior remediation experience is required for the right candidate. We are willing to train individuals who are reliable, safety-conscious, physically capable, and interested in learning a skilled trade. Candidates with demolition, construction, restoration, environmental remediation, or hazardous-material experience are strongly encouraged to apply.
Our projects may take place in schools, hospitals, government buildings, commercial properties, industrial facilities, churches, and private residences. Employees must be able to follow safety procedures, work as part of a team, and maintain a professional attitude while working around customers, building occupants, and other contractors.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform selective and general demolition, including the removal of drywall, flooring, ceilings, insulation, fixtures, and other building materials.
- Assist with asbestos, lead, mold, and other environmental remediation projects under the direction of trained supervisors.
- Set up and maintain containment areas, critical barriers, decontamination units, warning signs, and other required site controls.
- Use hand tools, power tools, HEPA vacuums, pressure washers, negative-air machines, and other jobsite equipment.
- Load, unload, move, and properly dispose of tools, equipment, debris, and regulated materials.
- Clean and prepare work areas before, during, and after each project.
- Follow all company procedures, project specifications, and applicable OSHA and environmental safety requirements.
- Properly wear and maintain required personal protective equipment, including respirators, protective suits, gloves, eye protection, and fall-protection equipment.
- Complete daily equipment inspections and immediately report damaged or unsafe equipment.
- Assist with material deliveries, equipment setup, and organization of company vehicles and job trailers.
- Work safely from ladders, scaffolding, aerial lifts, and elevated work areas when properly trained and authorized.
- Communicate professionally with supervisors, coworkers, customers, facility representatives, and other contractors.
- Travel to different project locations throughout Connecticut and occasionally outside the immediate area.
- Perform other construction, remediation, cleaning, and general labor duties as assigned.
Bare Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following basic requirements:
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Have reliable transportation to RAMCO’s shop or assigned meeting location.
- Have a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
- Be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Be dependable and able to report to work on time.
- Be willing to work early mornings, occasional nights, weekends, overtime, and changing schedules when required by a project.
- Be able to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Be able to work safely and cooperatively as part of a team.
- Be able to repeatedly lift and carry approximately 50 pounds.
- Be able to stand, bend, kneel, climb, reach, and perform physical labor for extended periods.
- Be comfortable working indoors and outdoors in hot, cold, dusty, dirty, or wet environments.
- Be willing and medically able to wear a respirator and other required personal protective equipment.
- Be willing to work from ladders, scaffolding, and aerial lifts after receiving proper training.
- Be willing to complete required safety training, medical evaluations, respirator fit testing, and certification courses.
- Be able to pass any pre-employment or project-specific screening required by the company, customer, or jobsite.
- Maintain a professional attitude and respectful behavior while working at occupied facilities and customer properties.
Preferred Qualifications
The following experience is helpful but not required:
- Construction, demolition, restoration, or general labor experience.
- Asbestos-abatement worker certification.
- Lead-abatement worker certification.
- Mold-remediation or water-damage restoration experience.
- OSHA 10-hour or OSHA 30-hour training.
- HAZWOPER 40-hour certification.
- Aerial-lift, scaffold, forklift, or fall-protection training.
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, pressure washers, or HEPA equipment.
- Experience working in schools, hospitals, government facilities, or occupied commercial buildings.
- Commercial driver’s license or experience driving work trucks and trailers.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
This is a physically demanding field position. Employees may work around dust, debris, moisture, noise, chemicals, hazardous building materials, confined work areas, and active construction operations. RAMCO provides required training and personal protective equipment based on the work being performed.
Employees must be able to wear respiratory protection, protective clothing, gloves, safety glasses, hard hats, hearing protection, and fall-protection equipment for extended periods when required.

Schedule
- Full-time
- Monday through Friday
- Typical start times may be early in the morning.
- Overtime, nights, weekends, and travel may occasionally be required depending on the project.
Compensation
Pay: $22–$26 per hour
Starting pay will be based on the applicant’s experience, certifications, driving qualifications, and ability to perform the position’s responsibilities.
Overtime may be available depending on project schedules.
Some of RAMCO’s larger public works projects are subject to prevailing-wage requirements. Eligible employees assigned to these projects may earn approximately $50–$60 per hour, depending on the project, job classification, and applicable wage determination; prevailing-wage work is not guaranteed and only applies while working on qualifying projects.
