Surplus lines tax compliance is a specialized and growing field, and this is a unique opportunity for qualified candidates to gain experience and grow with our company. We provide a fast-paced but friendly workplace with opportunities for all team members to grow and advance in the organization.

What You'll Do:

You'll be assigned a group of states and you'll own them. Every surplus lines filing ACCEL makes in those states, for every client, comes through you — and over time you become the person here who knows how those states actually work. No prior surplus lines experience needed; almost nobody arrives with it, and we train for it.

Own end-to-end surplus lines tax compliance for your assigned states, including filing calendars, deadlines, and submissions
Serve as the technical and regulatory advisor to our clients on your states, explaining requirements and what rule changes mean for their business
Research surplus lines regulatory and compliance questions, and track developments in your states
Move and reconcile client-provided data between our proprietary platform and state filing systems
Keep our internal reference materials current, so the whole team benefits from what you learn
Take on new states and projects as ACCEL grows

What experience you'll need:

1–3 years in insurance, tax, regulatory compliance, paralegal work, accounting, or another detail-driven professional role — or demonstrated equivalent capability
Strong Excel skills, including formulas and pivot tables, and comfort working with large data sets
Able to read a regulation or state bulletin, understand what it requires, and explain it plainly to someone who isn't a specialist
Confident and clear in direct client communication, written and verbal
Sound judgment about when to decide independently and when to escalate
Able to manage competing deadlines across multiple accounts without dropping detail
Able to handle confidential client information appropriately
Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent professional experience

Surplus lines experience is a plus but not required. If you've done rigorous, deadline-bound regulatory or financial work in another field, we're interested.

Where this goes:

Analysts here grow into senior and account management roles as our client base expands, and take on training and oversight of junior staff. We promote from within and we'll be specific about that path during the interview.
