Tax Associate

CANDIDATES WITH PERSONAL OR PROFESSIONAL TIES TO HAWAII PREFERRED

Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Tax Associate to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in tax preparation and client service who is looking for a stable, long-term position in a collaborative and professional environment.

The ideal candidate is technically strong, dependable, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently, while also being a supportive team player. We are looking for someone experienced and confident in their work who values meaningful client relationships and teamwork.

This position offers the opportunity to work with a wide variety of individual, business, trust and estate clients, gain additional exposure to complex tax situations, and contribute meaningfully to client success in a supportive and team-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare individual, business, trust, and estate tax returns with accuracy and efficiency.
Conduct tax research and apply current tax laws and regulations to client situations.
Identify tax planning opportunities and provide practical recommendations to clients and team members.
Prepare financial statements, workpapers, and supporting documentation.
Communicate directly with clients regarding tax matters, document requests, and follow-up items.
Collaborate with partners and team members on tax planning and special projects.
Maintain organized and accurate client files and documentation.
Assist with IRS and state tax notices and correspondence as needed.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of public accounting and/or tax preparation experience required.
Strong understanding of federal and state tax compliance for individuals and businesses.
CPA license, CPA candidate, or Enrolled Agent (EA) credential preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and tax/accounting software, CCH Axcess preferred.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage deadlines and multiple client engagements effectively.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Self-motivated, dependable, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Looking for a long-term role in a collaborative and stable work environment.

Flexible work schedule as needed, with preferred general working hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Exceptions and flexibility are available based on workload, deadlines, and team needs.
