Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and energetic Payroll Accountant-Temp to join our finance team! In this dynamic role, you will be responsible for processing payroll accurately and efficiently, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. You will handle sensitive financial data, reconcile accounts, and support payroll systems to deliver timely payroll services. Duties

We are seeking a detail‑oriented and analytical Payroll Accountant. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a high‑accountability environment, enjoys complex reconciliation work, and is committed to accuracy in payroll processing and reporting. The Payroll Accountant supports critical financial operations, ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, and plays a key role in maintaining smooth, timely payroll cycles.

Key Responsibilities

Perform CalPERS reconciliation for all payroll cycles, resolve discrepancies, upload files, and ensure timely contribution accuracy.
Complete Payroll General Ledger (GL) reconciliation, including balancing payroll summaries with posted GL entries.
Conduct regular timecard audits for accuracy, authorization, coding compliance, and policy alignment.
Prepare journal entries for payroll activities, adjustments, accruals, and cost allocations.
Prepare quarterly payroll tax reports, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local requirements.
Participate in year‑end processing
Collaborate closely with Payroll, HR, Benefits, and IT teams to resolve issues and support continuous process improvement.

Experience

Proven experience in corporate accounting or payroll management within a professional environment.
Hands-on familiarity with payroll systems such as Workday, ADP, Paychex, Kronos, UltiPro, or Ceridian is essential.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles including double entry bookkeeping, journal entries, and general ledger reconciliation.
Experience working with time & attendance systems and HRIS platforms is highly desirable.
Knowledge of employment & labor law as it pertains to payroll processing and tax law compliance.
Proficiency in spreadsheets (Excel) for data analysis and reporting purposes.
Ability to handle confidential information with integrity while maintaining high attention to detail.
Excellent analysis skills with the capacity to identify discrepancies and perform account reconciliations efficiently.
