Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Building and Grounds Technician to maintain the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of our facilities. In this vital role, you will be responsible for performing a variety of custodial, maintenance, and groundskeeping tasks to ensure our environment remains welcoming, safe, and well-maintained. Your proactive approach and attention to detail will contribute significantly to the smooth operation of our property, creating a positive experience for staff, visitors, and members alike.
Responsibilities
Inclement Weather Duties
1) Anticipate and prepare for upcoming snow, ice, for campus access, sidewalks, parking lots, church property. Some overtime may be required.
Food Pantry Support
1) Anticipate and prepare for incoming shipments with the Coordinator and unload and put away commodities as they arrive.
Cemetery
Maintain cemetery grounds, which included but not limited to:
1) General Upkeep: mowing, trimming trees and bushes, edging, and weed control.
2) Pick up decoration at cemetery, including flowers, solar lights,
3) Marking for tombstone placement, marking for burials, packing graves, leveling ground
4) Maintain roads, keep equipment maintained.
Facility and Building
1) Set up and tear down for activities; supervise church activities and ballgames
2) Clean restrooms and classrooms for church, school, Parish Service Center, and Rectory
3) Assist maintenance team with repairs as requested by supervisor
4) Assist in maintain grounds, including mow, trim, weed control, keep area clean and tidy, monitor parking lot for unauthorized vehicles or parking in unauthorized areas.
5) Complete fire extinguisher/emergency lighting monthly checks
6) Clean church, Parish Service Center, Rectory and School building
7) Assist Maintenance Supervisor with other duties as assigned
8) Assist with covering front desk as needed when needed, includes answer phones, take messages, help walk in traffic in a professional manner
Skills/Qualifications:
● Positive communications skills, non-abrasive and able to handle short notice requests for assistance.
● Must be a self-starter and be well-organized team player.
● Work well individually and as a team.
● Be able to prioritize the work of self
● Tolerate interruptions to work schedule.
● Be available for evening and weekend work as necessary; have reliable transportation.
● Be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
● Able to adapt appropriately in a ministerial environment.
● Complete a criminal history and background check.
● Able to take verbal and written instructions.
● Professional, clean and neat personal appearance.
● Available to help with office coverage when needed, including answer phones, take messages, help walk in traffic in a professional manner
Education and Experience:
● Prefer previous building support, mechanical skills sufficient to trouble shoot, stabilize, and
report to supervisor and can also brainstorm cost-effective ways to accomplish a repair.

Pay: $15.00 - $16.00 per hour
