Full Job Description

Job Summary

The CNC Set-Up/Operator performs the set-up and operation of 3-axis, 4-axis, and Horizontal CNC mills in support of an expanding machine shop. This position is responsible for producing parts to print, holding stringent tolerances, and maintaining quality, throughput, and on-time delivery standards.

Responsibilities

- Set up and operate CNC 3-axis, 4-axis and Horizontal mills

- Review drawings, instructions, blueprints, or samples to ensure accurate production

- Take precise measurements for cutting or shaping

- Monitor production, adjusting feed and other settings as necessary

- Check output for quality assurance and document or discard defects

- Identify the need for and perform machine maintenance and minor repairs

- Interact with production planning and quality control departments to achieve on-time delivery, quality, and profitability goals

- Make suggestions for improvement in areas of cost reduction, processes, quality, and productivity

- Maintain a safe and clean workstation, tools clean and in working order

Qualifications

- CNC Set-up/Operator experience (Minimum 2 years’ experience required)

- Able to set up, and operate CNC vertical, horizontal machines with limited to no supervision (Required)

- Experience with Haas Vertical, Mori Seiki, (Preferred)

- Read and interpret assembly drawings and blueprints with a strong math background (Required)

- Must be able to communicate and follow written and oral instructions in English (Required)

- Experience reading and writing G-Code

- Knowledge of cutting aluminum, steel, stainless, and plastics (Delrin, acrylic, peek, etc.)

- Ability to use measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and indicators (Required)

Knowledge of ISO and/or AS9100 procedures (Preferred)
