Position Overview
Betallic is seeking a skilled PLC & Robotics Programmer to design, program, and maintain the automated control systems that drive our custom-built balloon manufacturing equipment. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work with industrial controls, robotics, and machine automation. The PLC & Robotics Programmer will work closely with our VP of Manufacturing and maintenance teams to keep production systems running safely, efficiently, and reliably, while identifying opportunities to improve automation across the plant.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and modify PLC programs (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar platforms) for production and packaging machinery.
- Program, configure, and maintain robotic systems used in manufacturing and material handling.
- Design and maintain HMI/SCADA screens for operator interfaces and production monitoring.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical, control, and automation system malfunctions on production equipment.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, ladder logic diagrams, and engineering blueprints.
- Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to identify equipment deficiencies and design automation improvements.
- Support installation, setup, and commissioning of new automated equipment or machinery upgrades.
- Perform system integration testing and validate control logic before deployment to production.
- Document programs, program revisions, wiring changes, and standard operating procedures.
- Provide training and guidance to operators and maintenance staff on new or modified systems.
- Ensure all automation and control work meets safety, quality, and production standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Proven experience programming PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar platforms).
- Experience programming and maintaining industrial robotics (Fanuc, ABB, KUKA, or similar).
- Strong understanding of electrical control systems, sensors, drives, and industrial networking (Ethernet/IP, Profibus, or similar).
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, technical drawings, and blueprints.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for automated and mechanical systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in industrial automation, controls, or robotics programming in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience maintaining or programming automation for packaging, printing, bottling, or custom machinery.
- Familiarity with HMI/SCADA software and industrial networking protocols.
- Experience with pneumatic and mechanical systems is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Comfortable standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and climbing in a production environment.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or a related field required (equivalent experience considered in lieu of degree).
- Electrical high/low voltage background needed.
- Three or more years of related experience preferred.
