Tasting Room Manager
· Manage tasting room floor operations which include, but are not limited to, maintaining housekeeping standards, opening and closing procedures including cash handling, maintaining accurate pricing in POS system and overseeing structure and pricing of tasting menu.
· Supervise Tasting Room Staff in all aspects of sales and service to deliver outstanding results.
· Manage all aspects of merchandise and inventory: shipping materials, non-wine items and tax paid wine stock, including library wine in-house. Perform the ordering of inventory and retail supplies as needed.
· Oversee all company and tasting room shipping & receiving, pack shipments, create labels/manifests and follow up/ track shipments to resolve issues.
· Work to increase profitability and volume of all retail sales, including but not limited to, tasting room, telephone, special events, etc.
· Coordinate with Director of Marketing to manage all retail signage and customer information handouts.
· Process donation requests. Prepare and pack for pickup or shipping.
· Process Wine Competition forms, Pack/ship or deliver, and update Excel spreadsheets.
General Tasting Room Staff Duties
- Greet visitors and provide information about our wines, products, and winery story.
· Sign up new wine club members and work to strengthen relationships with existing club members. Make phone calls to customers and wine club members to update info, make sales.
· Represent the brand in the market at wine events, Farmers Markets, Festivals, Hotels and B&B’s, around 30 + per year, some overnight/Outside town. Visit other wineries, B&B’s, hotels, etc., to distribute rack cards/ Referral cards.
· Keep tasting room tidy, clean, and organized (dust awards/hutch, vacuum floors, clean windows, clean and supply all winery bathrooms, take out trash, etc.), and stock shelves with wines, bags, retail items, etc.
· Demonstrate strong customer service skills
· Be good at multi-tasking.
Wine Club Manager
· Manage and execute all three annual member shipments, including consumer communications, processing sales, shipping, and care for special circumstances. Coordinate with shipping companies, get tracking numbers and resolve issues.
· Develop retention programs and foster long-term relationships with members.
· Create email blasts and other marketing programs to enhance all aspects of membership.
· Work closely with Director of Marketing to promote Wine Club, and create marketing materials pertaining to the Club
· Maintain and keep all Club membership data secure and up-to-date
· Coordinate and supervise the three wine club pick up parties each year.
· Try to bring back inactive club members by calling, email and special offers.
Event Coordinator
· Organize EIGHT in-house events a year so far: 3 Wine Club Pick-up parties, 2 Industry Thank-you Events, Barrel Tasting (3-day event), Winter Wineland (2 day event) and Wine & Food Affair (2 day event).
· Arrange for all the Staffing at events, keep track of their “payment,” in wine or otherwise.
· Set up/ Decorate winery for events.
· Create all of the Advertising, Signs and order forms for the events in coordination with Director of Marketing.
· Coordinate the food offerings at events: contact Chef, buy supplies as needed, and file food safety permits on timely basis prior to each event. Also organize meals for Event Staff.
· Be sure we have sufficient inventory to sell at events.
Working Conditions
· Long and irregular hours during peak seasons and/or special events. Standing for long periods of time (8 hours per day)
· Moderate to heavy physical work, moving wine cases and retail supplies: Ability to lift at least 45 pounds repeatedly (case of wine) and carry case(s) of wine to customers’ vehicles after purchase, as well as load and unload cases for offsite events.
Other Supportive Duties
· Answer and handle winery phone calls and emails, act as first point of contact for all outside contacts, screen calls for others as needed or requested.
