Full Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a friendly, detail-oriented Front Desk Patient Services Representative to join our dermatology practice. The ideal candidate has prior experience in a medical office setting, strong customer service skills, and working knowledge of Availity for insurance verification and eligibility. This role is essential in creating a positive first impression and ensuring smooth patient flow and accurate insurance processing.

Key Responsibilities:

Greet patients professionally and warmly, in person and by phone

Schedule, confirm, and manage patient appointments

Verify insurance eligibility and benefits using Availity and payer portals

Perform insurance verification, referrals, and prior authorization checks as needed

Collect and post copays, deductibles, and outstanding balances

Accurately enter and update patient demographics and insurance information in the EHR

Communicate insurance and financial responsibilities clearly to patients

Coordinate with clinical and billing staff to resolve insurance or scheduling issues

Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality at all times

Required Qualifications:

Previous front desk experience in a medical office (dermatology preferred)

Hands-on experience using Availity for insurance verification and eligibility

Strong knowledge of medical insurance plans, copays, deductibles, and referrals

Excellent communication, organizational, and multitasking skills

Proficiency with EHR/PM systems and basic computer applications

Professional appearance and patient-centered attitude

Preferred Qualifications:

Dermatology practice experience

Familiarity with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance plans

Experience with prior authorizations and referrals

Bilingual (a plus, not required)
