CAS is a professional technical services contractor responsible for providing planning, coordinating, and onsite field services activities to ensure FAA operational policies, standards, processes, and procedures are met prior to integrating new systems into assigned National Airspace System (NAS) facilities. We are searching for a motivated, responsible Sr. Engineering Technician ready to join our team of technical professionals who interact directly with our customers to bring about modernization of government mission-critical systems and infrastructure.
As the Sr. Engineering Technician, you will be part of a team providing electrical/mechanical/system expertise support. This position participates in site survey activities, documents findings, and assists the FAA Program Office with scheduling installations, maintenance, repair, and removal activities. It also conducts equipment pre-installation coordination with all airport stakeholders and installation oversight. Additionally, this position monitors the progress of all assigned implementation activities and provides status updates, as required. You must be an initiative-taker capable of leading projects independently and interacting with a geographically dispersed team, government staff, and other government contract personnel possessing a broad spectrum of professional disciplines to achieve the customer’s objectives.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Perform and assist with all activities related to the transition from existing systems to new systems in FAA operational facilities and other assigned facilities
2. Assist with technical planning and assessing site-specific data to determine the suitability of the system architecture for a particular site application
3. Coordinate planned program implementation activities with FAA Engineering Services, FAA Service Area, District, and local site organizations and other stakeholders necessary for the successful integration of new systems into facilities
4. Conducts site surveys to support the installation of electronic equipment, identifying facility equipment space, cable pathways, power, grounding, seismic, and compliance with FAA, OSHA, and other pertinent requirements
5. Develop cost estimates and perform analysis on other reports impacting implementation activities. This includes site preparation, equipment delivery, equipment storage, telecommunications, installation, and system decommissioning
6. Perform site preparation, installation, and checkout of systems in the equipment rooms and operational spaces of assigned facilities
7. Conduct periodic site visits for installation monitoring and coordination and draft trip reports
8. Maintain implementation documentation such as drawings, specs, calculations, and reports
9. Collect and maintain system performance data to support identification of mission needs and operational capability shortfalls
10. Develop and maintain implementation schedules and assess impacts of changes to the program
11. Support Program logistics processes, develop and maintain equipment production, storage, delivery, and tracking processes
12. Participate in daily/weekly team conference calls or meetings related to project status and evolving priorities
13. Prepare for and participate in program status activities by reviewing artifacts in advance
14. Participate in Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs)
15. Assist with providing inputs to program briefings and presentations
16. Verifies work order information and receipt of all necessary equipment and information
17. Documents and/or logs equipment/system installation and/or modification actions
18. Drafts routine reports and contract documentation such as site surveys and test reports
19. Ability to handle multiple tasks during emergency situations
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in a position with FAA Technical Operations responsibilities
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently
- Must have the ability to discern colors used for safety and telecommunications terminations
- Must maintain a valid Driver’s license, reliable transportation, and a good driving record
- Proficient in the use of a laptop computer and applications such as with MS Office products, SharePoint portals, test equipment, and diagnostic software
- Must possess knowledge of FAA Surface Surveillance Systems, radar technology, and communications wiring standards. Installation practices preferred.
- Experience and understanding working with engineering drawings and technical procedures
- Must have experience in standard hand tools to include power tools, Powder Actuated Tools, ladders, as well as specialty hand tools and test equipment
- Must be able to push, pull, and/or lift 75 lbs
- Must be able to regularly climb ladders, carry, bend, stoop, reach, crawl, and work in small/closed places to complete the assigned tasks
- Candidate must pass a drug screening as part of the pre-employment process.
LOCATION: This is a remote position. However, the candidate must live in the contiguous US.
SCHEDULE & TRAVEL:
- Typical schedule is M-F normal business hours, however, schedule flexibility is required, as some customer activities may require shift change to accommodate site needs
- Domestic travel is between 50% - 75%
SECURITY: Candidate must be a United States citizen or a resident alien who has been lawfully admitted for permanent residence in accordance with the Alien Registration policy established by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Candidates must also be able to submit to and complete the appropriate background investigation and security via the Standard Form (SF) 85P, Questionnaire for Public Trust Positions.

Pay: Up to $125,000.00 per year
