Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Oil & Gas Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing financial records, bank accounts, auditing books, working with CPA's, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing insightful financial analysis to support decision-making. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, as well as proficiency in financial software. The Accountant will play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of financial data and contributing to the overall financial health of the organization.

Responsibilities

Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements and reports.
Manage debits and credits to ensure proper accounting of transactions.
Conduct bank reconciliations to verify account balances.
Record journal entries for all financial transactions.
Assist in budgeting processes and monitor budget performance.
Ensure compliance with regulatory reporting requirements.
Utilize financial software for efficient data management and reporting.
Collaborate with other departments to gather necessary financial information.
Perform financial management tasks to optimize resource allocation.

Skills

Strong knowledge of accounting principles, including financial accounting and management.
Strong knowledge of oil and gas accounting with an emphasis in understanding royalty payments, JIBs, AFEs, taxable and nontaxable items, production allocation, etc.
Proficiency in debits, credits, journal entries, and bank reconciliation processes.
Experience with budgeting and forecasting techniques.
Ability to navigate regulatory reporting requirements effectively.
High level proficiency in various software platforms including; Quickbooks, Excel and preferably experience in major ERP software.
Experience working with CPA's for year end reconciliations, tax filings, etc.
Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Effective communication skills for collaboration within teams.
