CONTROLLER FOR LICENSED CANNABIS COMPANY

Under the direction of the CEO, the Controller role is vital to the overall growth and stability of our company and will be the driving force behind financial direction. The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge of QuickBooks Online Enterprise, financial management, strategic financial planning, financial modeling, cash flow analysis, inventory analysis, and risk analysis.

Job Summary:
Clear River LLC, a growing cannabis establishment, is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Controller to oversee all accounting and financial operations. The Controller will be responsible for managing financial reporting, ensuring compliance with cannabis industry regulations, maintaining internal controls, and supporting strategic financial planning. This role is critical to maintaining financial integrity and operational efficiency within a highly regulated industry.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee daily accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Ensure compliance with state cannabis regulations, tax laws, and financial reporting requirements
Manage cash flow, budgeting, and financial forecasting
Maintain and improve internal accounting controls and procedures
Coordinate audits and work with external accountants and tax professionals
Monitor inventory accounting and cost tracking in compliance with cannabis industry standards
Oversee preparation and filing of all required tax returns, including cannabis-specific taxes
Analyze financial data and provide recommendations to support business decisions
Ensure compliance with IRS regulations, including Section 280E

Qualifications:

Extensive experience in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
CPA preferred
5+ years of accounting or finance leadership experience
Experience in cannabis, retail, manufacturing, or highly regulated industries strongly preferred
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
Familiarity with cannabis compliance regulations and IRS 280E preferred
Experience with accounting software and ERP systems
Advanced Excel skills
Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information

Compensation & Benefits:

Competitive salary: $100,000 – $130,000

Additional Requirements:

Must be at least 21 years of age
Must be able to pass all required background checks for cannabis licensing in Nevada
