Lead Floral Designer — Surcee Bouquets
Surcee Bouquets is a new luxury floral boutique opening in downtown Asheville, North Carolina, with a simple philosophy: elevating the art of gifting flowers.
We are seeking an experienced Lead Floral Designer to join us from the beginning and play an important role in shaping our floral style, customer experience, and day-to-day operations.
This is a full-time, year-round position for an accomplished floral designer who combines strong design skills with exceptional customer service, organization, reliability, and a genuine desire to help build something special. For the right person, there is significant opportunity to grow into a management and leadership role as Surcee develops.
Open Monday through Friday, our focus is everyday floral gifting rather than weddings and events. The Lead Floral Designer will create beautiful hand-tied bouquets and arrangements, maintain exceptional quality and presentation standards, assist customers, monitor inventory and identify purchasing needs, and help establish the systems and standards of a new floral shop.
Duties
- Create elevated floral arrangements, hand-tied bouquets and custom floral gifts consistent with Surcee Bouquets’ design standards.
- Lead daily floral production and help maintain consistency, quality and presentation across all designs.
- Help process, condition and properly care for fresh flowers and maintain cooler organization and cleanliness.
- Help monitor floral inventory, identify purchasing needs and help minimize waste.
- Assist customers in person and by phone with warmth, confidence and exceptional service.
- Prepare daily orders accurately and efficiently, including enclosure cards, packaging and presentation.
- Help maintain attractive merchandising and floral displays throughout the shop.
- Help guide and support part-time floral and shop staff as the team grows.
- Assist with holiday preparation and increased floral production during key floral holidays.
- Occasionally assist with local deliveries when needed.
- Work closely with the owner to help establish procedures, design standards and the overall Surcee customer experience.
- Take on increasing operational and leadership responsibilities with the opportunity to grow into a management role.
Requirements
- 3 years of professional floral design experience required: 5+ years preferred
- Strong portfolio demonstrating professional floral design skills, please include links to website or social media showcasing recent floral designs
- Excellent knowledge of fresh flowers, care and handling, and proper conditioning techniques
- Proficiency in hand-tied bouquets, vase arrangements and everyday floral work
- Ability to design efficiently while maintaining high standards of quality and presentation
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Dependable, organized and comfortable working independently
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple orders in a fast-paced environment
- Comfortable using floral software and computer/POS systems
- Ability to lift and carry flower buckets, boxes and floral supplies and remain on your feet for extended periods
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
- Professional and personal references required
- Background check required as a condition of employment
Surcee is founded by longtime floral industry entrepreneur Clara Varga-Gonzales, founder of the award-winning Tiger Lily Florist, Charleston, South Carolina which became recognized throughout the floral industry. After years of working in floral business education and consulting, Surcee represents a return to retail floristry with a fresh vision centered on exceptional flowers, thoughtful gifting and extraordinary customer service.

Pay: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour
