Job Description QA/QC Project Manager – Solar

Position Summary
At SYMX Energy the QA/QC Project Manager is responsible for leading quality assurance and quality control activities while managing the successful execution of utility-scale, commercial, and industrial solar projects. This role ensures projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with contract requirements, company quality standards, engineering specifications, and applicable industry codes.
The ideal candidate possesses strong project management experience, in-depth knowledge of solar construction, electrical systems, quality management processes, and exceptional leadership skills to coordinate cross-functional teams, subcontractors, and clients throughout the project lifecycle.
Essential Responsibilities Project Management
- Manage multiple solar construction projects from pre-construction through final commissioning and project closeout.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, resource plans, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Coordinate project activities between Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Safety, Quality, and Clients.
- Monitor project performance to ensure milestones, deliverables, and contractual obligations are achieved.
- Facilitate project meetings with internal stakeholders, subcontractors, customers, and owners.
- Prepare project status reports, executive summaries, forecasts, and performance metrics.
- Identify project risks and implement corrective action plans to minimize delays and cost impacts.
- Ensure all project documentation is complete, accurate, and maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
Quality Assurance & Quality Control
- Develop, implement, and maintain Project Quality Management Plans (QMP).
- Establish QA/QC procedures, inspection plans, and testing requirements for all phases of construction.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, engineering drawings, contracts, and customer requirements.
- Perform routine field inspections and quality audits to verify workmanship and installation quality.
- Review Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), inspection reports, and quality documentation.
- Manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), corrective actions, preventive actions, and root cause investigations.
- Verify completion of punch list items prior to project turnover.
- Coordinate third-party inspections, commissioning activities, and owner acceptance inspections.
- Maintain quality records in accordance with company and customer requirements.
Solar Technical Responsibilities
- Oversee installation quality for:
- PV modules
- Structural racking systems
- Inverters
- Combiner boxes
- Medium-voltage equipment
- Transformers
- Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), when applicable
- Underground and above-ground electrical systems
- Ensure compliance with:
- NEC
- NFPA
- OSHA
- IEEE
- Utility interconnection requirements
- AHJ requirements
- Customer specifications
- Support commissioning, energization, and project turnover activities.
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead QA/QC Inspectors, Project Engineers, and field personnel.
- Mentor project teams on quality standards and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and operational excellence.
- Partner with Safety, Engineering, Procurement, and Construction teams to proactively resolve quality issues.
- Conduct quality training sessions for project personnel and subcontractors.
Client & Stakeholder Relations
- Serve as the primary quality representative during customer meetings.
- Build strong relationships with clients, consultants, engineers, subcontractors, and regulatory agencies.
- Respond to customer concerns while maintaining project schedules and quality expectations.
- Present quality metrics and project updates to executive leadership.
QualificationsEducation
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related discipline preferred.
- Equivalent industry experience will be considered.
Experience
- 7–10+ years of construction management experience.
- Minimum 5 years of QA/QC experience on utility-scale or commercial solar projects.
- Experience managing multiple construction projects simultaneously.
- Experience working with EPC contractors.
- Strong understanding of solar PV systems, electrical construction, and renewable energy projects.
Preferred Certifications
- Project Management Professional (PMP)
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction
- NABCEP PV Installation Professional (preferred)
- Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or equivalent (preferred)
- First Aid/CPR Certification
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong knowledge of utility-scale solar construction.
- Knowledge of project scheduling software (Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project).
- Experience with Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Bluebeam, or similar construction management software.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, contracts, and electrical one-line diagrams.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong negotiation and conflict-resolution abilities.
- High level of integrity, accountability, and attention to detail.
- Excellent written communication and documentation skills, with the ability to prepare detailed meeting minutes, inspection reports, project updates, and technical documentation while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

- Ability to travel to project sites up to 75%.
- Ability to work in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions.

Pay: $95,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
