JOB DESCRIPTION
NETWORK SYSTEMS ENGINEER
QUALIFICATIONS:
(1) Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field.
(2) Four (4) years of computer systems experience.
(3) Minimum of two (2) years of experience in design, installation and maintenance in Network Communications.
(4) Combination of training and substantially equivalent experience may be substituted for the above requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of server operating systems and applications. Skill in diagnosing technical problems and providing detailed analysis and recommendations. Understanding of VLANs, TCP/IP networking and routing, switch configuration, wireless networking and VOIP. Knowledge of the principles and practices used in the design of LANs and WANs. Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments. Ability to determine priorities and work independently. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Ability to communicate technical data processing information effectively verbally and in writing.

Coordinator of Educational Technology
JOB GOAL:
To manage data center operations, server and network support as well as storage and backup solutions. To ensure that network communication infrastructure is in place and compatible to service all technological platforms used by the District to achieve its educational and operational objectives.
SUPERVISES:
N/A
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
(1) Maintain proficiency and currency with server systems, network design and technology.
(2) Manage and support the district server and network platform to enhance performance and efficiency.
(3) Develop and test disaster recovery plans routinely.
(4) Implement, install, configure, monitor, troubleshoot, and evaluate the communication infrastructure for District-wide networking that links the wide area network and local area networks across all platforms.
(5) Perform software installations, upgrades, and security patches to server and client operating systems and application software with vendors and users.
(6) Provide technical training and development of school and department staffs relating to server and network communications.
(7) Maintains records of work completed and in-progress; and updates network documentation to record installations, upgrades, configurations, etc.
(8) Provide assistance, as necessary, to help other technicians resolve technical problems that have been assigned through work orders.
(9) At times, performs after-hours system support during scheduled and unscheduled outages.
(10) Maintain a productive working relationship with users and all levels of management.
(11) Use effective, positive, interpersonal communication skills.
(12) Perform job responsibilities with sustained focus and attention to detail for extended periods of time.
(13) Perform other incidental tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position.*
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Medium Work: Exerting up to 65 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force as needed to move objects.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District’s approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the District.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
