Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead our financial operations and drive sustainable growth. As a key member of the executive leadership team, the CFO will oversee all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, risk analysis, regulatory reporting, and strategic planning. This role demands an energetic leader with extensive experience in financial analysis, forecasting, and compliance within diverse industry settings. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in financial concepts, management, and industry knowledge of financial regulations, ensuring the organization’s fiscal health and long-term success.
Scope and/or Purpose: This position is primarily responsible for all financial and fiscal management aspects of The Baddour Center (TBC). Provides leadership, coordination, and oversight in administration, business planning, accounting, finance, and budgeting work. Provides critical financial insight and strategic support to the CEO and Board of Trustees. Maintains attitudes and behaviors that demonstrate and uphold TBC’s mission and support its values.
This position directly supervises the Controller and Finance and Accounting Department.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: The essential job duties and knowledge, skills and abilities listed below are required of the job as it is currently being (or expected to be) performed. 1. Oversees TBC’s schedule of accounts and keeps the organization’s accounting books and records, reflecting all transactions, assets, and liabilities.
2. Develops, analyzes, interprets, and reports statistical and accounting information for each department and ensures the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness of the entire organization.
3. Coordinates and directs preparation of the annual operating and capital budgets and multi-year financial forecasts. Institutes and maintains other planning and control procedures and analyzes and reports variances.
4. Audits continuously all TBC accounting records to ensure compliance with policies and procedures and the adequacy of internal controls.
5. Ensures TBC’s financial and accounting policies and procedures are authoritative and aligned with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Provides technical advice and counsel on all accounting and reporting issues.
6. Works with the CEO and senior leadership to establish major economic objectives and policies.
7. Oversees preparation, filing, and distribution of annual financial reports, tax forms and returns, and charity registrations to Federal agencies, including the Internal Revenue Service, and State agencies, including those in Florida, Mississippi, and Tennessee. Reviews these with the Board of Trustees as needed. Ensures TBC maintains and operates within its 501c3 nonprofit designation.
8. Serves as senior financial liaison to the following:
a. the Board of Trustees and Finance, Investment, and Audit Team(s);
b. the independent accountants during their annual audit of TBC’s financial statements and the adequacy of TBC’s system of internal controls;
c. all related financial institutions (e.g., banking, investment).
9. Negotiates and ensures adequate insurance coverage for all non-employee benefits insurance activities, including, but not limited to, TBC’s property and liability, workers’ compensation, directors and officers, and employment practices insurance programs. Actively employs risk management tools and techniques to minimize TBC’s property and liability exposures.
10. Negotiates annual renewal of TBC’s line of credit agreement with a major financial institution.
11. Performs other duties as assigned.
Essential Knowledge/Experience: This position must have an in-depth and working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) as it relates to accounting, budgeting, controls, and other operations. This person must be skilled in Windows-based software applications and the Microsoft Office suite. The ideal candidate has experienced and overseen a financial software conversion project (i.e., analysis and implementation). This person must display strong oral and written communication skills with a diverse range of stakeholders. This person must be highly organized, with an ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks and oversee and evaluate others doing the same. This person will have regular and frequent contact across the organization, internally and externally. This person must effectively lead and manage employees. The ideal candidate has proven track record of delegation while working alongside his/her team. This person must motivate, establish rapport, gain support, persuade, and/or influence individuals and/or groups. Contacts will often require tact and discretion.
A master’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field. An MBA or CPA is preferred. At least ten years of progressive experience in a senior-level finance or accounting position and management and leadership experience. Experience in a nonprofit organization is a plus.
Essential Mental, Physical, and Auditory/Visual Requirements: This position requires a high-level concentration and attention to detail. Excellent mental, auditory, and visual acuities are essential. Work is often sedentary; however, it will sometimes require walking, light lifting, and carrying. Computer work will include repetitive movement.
Supervision/ Reporting Responsibility: This position is responsible for giving managerial direction to a team of 3-5 employees. This position reports to the Chief Executive Officer and works closely with senior leadership and the Board of Trustees.

Pay: $90,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
