Position Overview

Walters Services loves people! The People Generalist role is key to fulfilling this purpose through the effective management of people processes and practices. This role serves as a primary point-of-contact for all people related matters both inside and outside the organization. Ensuring compliance with all internal and regulatory requirements for people is essential to this role.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

People Operations Administration

Act as a point of contact for all internal and external people-related inquiries, questions, concerns, and escalations through all communication channels (phone, text, email, fax, etc.)
Develop, implement, and maintain People Success/Human Resources (HR) policies, procedures, and best practices
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
Drive continuous improvement in People Success/HR processes, systems, and employee experience
Uphold, promote and champion company culture and values
Respond to all validated external requests for people information (i.e., employment verification, legal/court requests, etc.)
Maintain employee records according to all federal, state, and local regulations; maintain recordkeeping best practices
Maintain employee handbook in alignment with company leadership
Provide reporting and Key Performance Indicator (KPI) data to leadership upon request

People Recruitment and Onboarding

Post and manage job opportunities on internal/external job boards
Assess candidate qualifications and conduct/participate in the interview process
Complete pre-employment tasks such as background checks, drug/alcohol testing, hiring assessments, employment documentation and filings, etc.
Maintain and execute new hire orientation

People Benefits

Maintain and execute administration of company benefits including, but not limited to: Voluntary & company paid benefits, 401k, etc.
Execute administration of regulatory benefits including, but not limited to: COBRA, Workers Compensation, Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), unemployment, etc.
Respond to employee inquiries related to available benefits and their administration
Communicate with other internal departments (i.e., Payroll) to support the proper administration of employee benefits

People Performance Management and Offboarding

Build, maintain, and execute employee development programs
Support and lead employee performance management programs, investigations, and conflict resolution
Build, maintain, execute, and ensure company compliance with employee separation (voluntary/involuntary) processes
Conduct employee exit interviews; collect and analyze data, report trends and outcomes to leadership
Ensure collection of all employee issued equipment

QualificationsEducation

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, HR Management, or related field from an accredited college or university

Experience

Minimum of 2-years of related HR experience

Certifications

Certified or in-progress to complete either (at a minimum)
HRCI PHR
SHRM-CP: Certified Professional

Skills, Knowledge, Abilities

Proven experience as an HR Generalist
Understanding of Human Resources best practices, policies, procedures
Understanding of related HR and Safety regulations (federal, state, local)
Experience working with various Benefits Administrators (Medical, Dental, Vision, Disability, Workers Compensation, Retirement, etc.)
Excellent people skills (written, verbal, and interpersonal)
Self-motivated and able to work with a high degree of independence
Ability to use discretion when handling sensitive employee matters
Skilled in office productivity tools such as Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and/or Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc.)
Familiar with Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) and Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) – their general workings, application in the workplace, and ongoing management to support effective people outcomes

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Ability to sit/stand for prolonged periods of time

Schedule

Generally, Monday – Friday, 8am EST – 12pm EST or 1pm EST – 5pm EST; with the ability to adjust as needed to accomplish Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
Not to exceed 29-hours per week
Expected to be in the office 5 days per week

Pay: $25.00 - $31.00 per hour
