Full Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Quality Control Analyst to join our pharmaceutical/nutraceutical manufacturing facility. In this role, you will perform routine and non-routine testing on raw materials, in-process lozenge bases, and finished lozenge products. You will ensure strict compliance with cGMP, FDA regulations, and internal product specifications to deliver safe, effective, and high-quality lozenges to the market.

Key Responsibilities

Analytical Testing: Perform chemical and physical analysis on raw materials, active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), in-process bases, and finished lozenges using techniques such as HPLC, GC, UV-Vis, FTIR, titrations, and dissolution testing.
Physical Testing: Conduct physical quality checks on lozenges, including lozenge weight variation, hardness, friability, disintegration time, moisture content (LOD/Karl Fischer), and color/appearance evaluation. Perform incoming testing on raw materials as per USP.
Routine Equipment Maintenance: Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instrumentation (e.g., pH meters, balances, HPLC and GC systems) according to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Documentation & Data Integrity: Accurately document test results, maintain laboratory notebooks, and log data into Laboratory Information Management System in compliance with cGMP+ data integrity principles.
Investigative Support: Assist in Out-of-Specification (OOS), Out-of-Trend (OOT), and deviation investigations by executing re-tests and performing root-cause analysis.
Stability & Method Validation: Execute stability testing programs for lozenge formulations under varied temperature and humidity conditions; support method verification/validation as needed.
Safety & Compliance: Maintain a safe working environment in accordance with OSHA standards and internal safety protocols, proper waste disposal, and chemical handling procedures.

Qualifications & Skills

Education: Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a closely related scientific discipline.
Experience: 1–3 years of analytical laboratory experience in a cGMP-regulated environment (Pharmaceuticals, OTC, or Nutraceuticals preferred). Experience with solid dosage forms, lozenges, or confectionery manufacturing is a plus.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency with liquid chromatography (HPLC/GC) and wet chemistry techniques.
Experience with physical testing tools (hardness testers, Karl Fischer titrators, moisture analyzers).
Knowledge of USP testing protocols (e.g., Disintegration, Dissolution, Uniformity of Dosage Units.

Compliance & Soft Skills:

Strong understanding of cGMP, FDA regulations, and 21 CFR Part 11 requirements.
High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Solid written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional collaboration with QA and Operations.
