DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:

The 30-bed intensive care unit serves patients admitted for emergency general surgery, Level 1 trauma, transplant and surgical services. Specialties include orthopedics, urology, surgical oncology, plastic surgery, colorectal surgery, thoracic surgery and obstetrics/gynecology.

Responsibilities

Deliver comprehensive nursing care to surgical ICU patients, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of individualized care plans.
Monitor vital signs, manage ventilators, and perform advanced airway management using aseptic techniques.
Administer medications accurately, including IV infusions and injections, while adhering to hospital protocols and HIPAA regulations.
Conduct thorough patient assessments, including physical examinations and diagnostic evaluations such as laboratory tests and imaging procedures like CT scans.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on discharge planning, case management, and coordination of post-acute care services.
Maintain detailed medical documentation within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner, ensuring compliance with NCQA standards.
Respond swiftly to critical situations involving trauma medicine or acute pain management, utilizing critical care response procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):

Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse by state of employment or holds a multistate RN license through the interstate Nurse Licensure Compact.
AHA BLS prior to end of orientation period
